Quote from: leewilson78 My wife has been working from home today, she has been connected to the router directly (as oppose to via wi-fi), here connection has been fine all morning, mine has been quite poor at times, usually problem of pages taking longer than they should to load.
I'm almost certain that your connection to the internet is fine and now that your line has been repaired you will soon (if not already) see the BT speed tester reporting a higher IP Profile.
Dropouts that you see on your wireless connection are going to be down to either your equipment failing or a conflict with other networks or devices (e.g. cordless phones).
Quote from: leewilson78 It is on channel 13, I seem remember changing it from 12 to 13 some time ago. I changed it to 1 prior to posting here, but the connection went all together.
Did you reboot the Mac after changing the channel on the router so that it would re-find the network?
You need to try channels 1 and 6.

Looking at the PN homepage, all packages received a wireless router, I have been a customer now for over a year I think, I have never received one, perhaps I am entitled to one, if it solves my connection issue then everyone is happy.

Chances are you'll be offered one on the basis that:
1. You pay for shipping - £6 or so.
2. If you leave PN in less than a year from receiving it you pay for it (not sure how much that is)

It will cost you £20 if you take a single port wireless router and leave within a year or £40 for a 4 port.
Until you've tried the other ports as suggested above I think you are wasting time and (potentially) money.

1) I have been with PN for over a year and never received a router
2) I pay PN over £40 a month
3) I am having problems with my connection, which I have tried to fix

The T&C's are absolutely clear - the router is free (but with P&P charge) only if you stay a year after the receipt of the router.
I don't believe you have a problem with your connection because you said it was fine for your wife when using a wired connection and you haven't since saying that posted any information that suggests a problem with the connection itself. I still believe it is likely you have a problem with the wireless.

You posted earlier
Quote from: leewilson78 I am confident that it will make no difference, I don't think it is related to the line. Test carried out by PN show that the connection is consistently dropping, I can't understand why leaving it for a few days will make any difference.
Is that still the case - if so changing wireless channels is irrelevant. This is why I suggested asking for a router to test with which you would send back after carrying out the tests.
This is not the same as getting a free router with the 12 month tie in unless you decided to keep it.
As suggested earlier, only if your connection to Plusnet is dropping and not if it is a wireless problem, you should PM a Comms Team member on Monday asking if they will let you have a test router

I think I've had enough though, PN seem unwilling to help me out.
I'll be giving my 10 day or whatever it is notice on Monday. I'm sick of telling people that my connection isn't what it should be. PN have said in tickets and also here that they can see my connection keeps dropping. I am not sure what else I can do for PN to fix the issue.
With regards to the 12 month tie in for getting a router, totally not worth it. I'm not encouraged to tie in with a further 12 months.
I'm out, hopefully others will read this before considering PN. If you get any problems with your connection, expect to be on your own.

So I bought the best router I could find, its a Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Gigabit Router. I am still seeing drops. the internet light is also flashing on and off every couple of seconds or so, just like my other router did, is this normal?
So, I have had BT come out, improve the line, no difference. I have plugged into the master socket, no difference. I have now tried a new router, no difference, can we we assume that is Plusnet?
