Re: Upgrading to hub 3

WiFi 5 will max out around the 400Mb. I believe the contracted speed applies to wired connections. Certainly my FF900 connection will give around 910 on a wired. speed test but only around 370Mb wireless when sat around 10ft from the router

Re: Upgrading to hub 3

@MisterW Thanks for that - I know you have posted those stats previously, but couldn't remember them. However, the OP has a WiFi6  card. 😔

Makes no difference , the Hub 2 is only WiFi 5!

Re: Upgrading to hub 3

The maximum wireless PHY rate that can be achieved with a Plusnet Hub Two is 867mbps. You can roughly half that to give you an approximation of what the maximum wireless throughput is.

Re: Upgrading to hub 3

@Fronk99  There are no guaranteed or minimum contracted speeds for a wi-fi connection, if you think that you will be able to break your contract for poor wi-fi speeds you are mistaken. As for the 14 days you mention, I assume you are referring to the order cooling off period which is 14 days from the day after you ordered the Broadband service to comply with distance selling regulations. It is not a testing facility.

Re: Upgrading to hub 3

With respect I was with Sky Broadband for 76 days and they do have a refund guarantee if your speed is below the contracted minimum, in my case that was 100 mb/s, after talking to 20+ customer service reps and 4 tech guys they could not fix the issue. I was refunded each months payment as their criteria was 4 consecutive days below contracted. In the whole 76 days I only saw 100 + a handful of times so I dumped them. To give them credit they didnt argue and sorted the refunds very quickly.

I`m sure Plusnet would have something similar as I have not yet seen anything over 500 mb/s but I`m prepared to wait and see if the connection settles.

Re: Upgrading to hub 3

You won't see the top figures with the Hub2 on wireless. As has been said, you either need a wired connection, or a more powerful router.
