Upload Speed

Just switched to plusnet Fibre Unlimited from Sky, where I was getting a good 34Mbit download, 8Mbit upload speed. After switching found out (in the small print) that the upload is limited to 2Mbit. So, after going through the technicalities to eliminate any issues, agreed to move up to Fibre Extra product with the expectation that the I'd be able to get 34Mbit down, and 8Mbit up. Got a go live date, when the date came was told I can't move up to the Extra product, as my line won't support downloads above 39Mbit.

I don't understand why i can't move up, I'm happy with the download, it's the upload I want to speed up, and a move to Fibre Extra would have resolved that problem. Uploads to onedrive are so slow.

Is there anything i can do to increase my upload speed?

Chris

Re: Upload Speed

there's nothing you can do yourself as your account is physically limited to 2Mbps upstream.
plusnet won't sell you the 80/20 product as your line is not capable of achieving more than the downstream you already get.

the only thing you can do is exercise your right to a cooling off period (if you are still inside it) and move to another ISP.

Re: Upload Speed

from what I can tell http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/7460-speed-upgrades-and-downgrades-at-plusnet-and-price-increases... and what is posted here is that the 40/2 won't be sold anymore.

Don't have any privileged info

Ignore me. I would.

Re: Upload Speed

I'm afraid that if you are on 40/2, you will stay there.

The 55/10 is only for customers on 40/20 who Plusnet want to move on to supported wholesale product ( there isn't a 40/20 product at wholesale level, it is 80/20 limited by Plusnet line speed to be  40Mbps down)

Re: Upload Speed

As @SpendLessTime has said 55/10 is only being offered to customers that are on 40/20.

There are no plans to offer it to other existing or new customers at this moment in time.

After the 3rd of November I will have a limited presence here as I have moved to a new role

Re: Upload Speed

What a tangled mess this recent set of changes has turned into.  It needs someone with sufficient technical nous to just stand back and review what is being offered both existing and potential new Users.  Not much to be attracted to IMHO?

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Upload Speed

it was the same farce when they rolled out FTTC self-installs to only some customers and not all.
either do it or not at all. this half-hearted [-Censored-] [-Censored-]d decision making reeks of incompetence.

We have no plans to offer a 55/10 product to our customer I'm afraid. Kind regards, [CSA Removed]

Re: Upload Speed

Good to see us that can't get over 40meg download are still getting screwed on the upload and will continue to for the foreseeable future, guess it's time to look elsewhere, its been fun Plusnet.

Re: Upload Speed

I'm one of those that will be moved from 40/20 to 55/10. That's OK for me - the trade-off's OK and, to be honest, I won't really notice the changes in either direction. But like dvorak I originally thought that 40/2 customers were also going to be moved and that 55/10 would become the new baseline offer - after all, that's pretty much what BT are doing.

It's bad that Plusnet are not offering 55/10 to either existing 40/2 customers or to new customers, not even at an intermediate price. 55/10 would suit a lot of people very well.

It is very bad indeed that Plusnet won't offer 55/10, or even 80/20, to a customer who knows exactly why s/he wants an upload speed greater than 2mb/s - and is willing to pay for it - even though the line won't support a download speed greater than 40mb/s. Surely this can be arranged?
