Re: Usage Recording

Hi there,
I'm fairly sure the reason will be that we're ignoring the extra usage. If usage is used just before or just after midnight (and 8am) and we cannot identify accurately which period it falls in we ignore it (so as not to charge incorrectly for usage which should be free).

Re: Usage Recording

Ok,thanks BUT,One night I did do nearly an hrs worth, and only got the nominal 50  to 60KBs,recorded .  I wasn't on here at all after midnight, last night (Ie this morning) and again a "nominal " 50-60 KBs got logged, guess thats the back scatter, as mentioned earlier.
However,Last week,my first week with PLus Net,  it did record my post midnight usage more or less correctly..................Anyway,main thing is,it seems to record my paid for usage ok.

Re: Usage Recording

Tomplus73,
I'm glad that VMBU seems to at least be getting the paid for usage right at the moment. By the sounds like you may have some other form of monitoring in place (TBB or wireshark maybe?) if so I'd keep comparing the stats from something like that to what VMBU is showing.

Re: Usage Recording

Wireshark isn't the most user friendly package out there but if you can get the grasp of it it can be useful: http://www.wireshark.org/download.html. I'd say that you might find TBB meter more useful for what your doing. It's a free download available via this link: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/tools.html

Re: Usage Recording

I used to use NetMeter - until Bob Pullen posted a link to Networx
Two main features of note over NetMeter:
  • It will ignore LAN traffic
  • It will collate data from multiple PCs on the LAN
  • jelv (a.k.a Spoon Whittler)

    Re: Usage Recording

Just to set the record straight,it appears the VMBU thingy,is now working,or at least it was 24 hrs ago.
I was only on two  mins after 0000 the previous night and I noticed it had sort of clicked up 250 KBs etc
So last night,or early this am,I "made myself"      Roll_eyes watch a few utube videos etc and was pleased to see 95MBs
of usage recorded, when I checked about 10 am today. Hope it keeps it up !!
