What's the UK record for being offline?

Hello Happy Plusnet users!
I'm just sending a celebratory post to congratulate all at the 'award winning' team for getting me back online (telephone and broadband) after FORTY FIVE DAYS.
I'm thinking of starting a Plusnet GULAG Club for all those who have been banished into the clutches of BTOutOfReach for, say, over a fortnight. Let me know if you want to join. (Silver status > 28 days, Gold > 56 days and so on)
Full details of this egregious display of incompetence will soon be available for interested parties!

So much sarcasm on these forums at the moment! And I should know. I'm king of sarcasm.

More sarcasm? Here?
Oh I'm so glad. We were lacking.

Seriously though, we know how much of a pain it can be and do keep reporting issues up the chain, unfortunately it's not something that's possible to fix quickly.

FORTY FIVE DAYS.

45 days, thats nothing, try 64 days, yes thats sixty four!
Thats how long it took to get my brothers broadband working again after BT nicked his line for someone else, and I finally got it resolved within 5 days of emailing the CEO of the BT group.
You could say it took longer, because there were a few other problems that took about a week or so more to sort.
Full story here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,103211.0.html
The trouble is that BT Openreach don't have to face the end users, and thier mucks ups caused the problems (ie out of PN's control), and going around in endless circles, not to mention the support staff here who don't read the full ticket thread, and therefore don't know whats gone on before.
Anyway the team who handled it after I complained were excellent, even if no ones knows who sent the engineer that fixed it. When PN spoke to BT, BT jumped through hoops everytime.
PS. Does Gulag stand for anything?

Re: What's the UK record for being offline?

The GULAG is where difficult peasants were sent by Stalin and his mates. There they were out of touch with the outer world, and their pleas for assistance fell on deaf ears, as the main focus was on productivity unencumbered by the whining of the serfs and suchlike.
BT have now purchased the exclusive rights to the system.  It's where a large proportion of my village has been the last six weeks. It is administered by the approriately named BTOutOfReach.

LOL, knew I should have Googled it. I love the new name for BT Open Reach,  BTOutOfReach, it is so apt.

I was off line for over 70 days when I was with PIPEX... which is why I ended up with PN, once I'd used up my "free" compensation with PIPEX I moved.

BTOutOfReach.

Love it. Cheesy Why that name hasn't been adopted by others before I don't know - it's so totally apt!

I was offline from 1966 to 1998 and didn't realise it was a problem Cool
