You are probably lucky enough to live within  reasonable distance of your local exchange.
Actually about 2.9 km as the copper goes based on attenuation right on edge of town and immediately backing to New Forest. Lucky **d me. Wink
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: Wish I never decided to move - For newbies be wary

Lucky for me I didn't sign up for 12 months. I am on the 10days notice period. However can't comment on nPN's service as I haven't had any yet. If anyone wants a good reliable ISP then try F2S (freedom to Surf) No part of OPAL. I have never had a problem with them. Even after O2 failing to provide me with broadband twice. They swithced me back on with no problems what so ever.
I have been told I will be up and running tomorrow. I wonder if thats still the case as I have only found out that by constant ringing and complaining on this forum. In 11 days I have had no broadband for a month. I thought this migration malarky was supposed to be seamless.

I think its the business division of Talk Talk. However  F2S were a separate ISP when I first went with them. I also had a static IP Address and unlimited data for about £16 a month. I never noticed any change when they became part of OPAL and was never pushed down signing up with Talk Talk or anything along them lines.

Well whoever owns them they have been good. I have two mates who use them too and they have had no issues either. I have fibre if I want from Virgin so I might even go with them. I am willing to give PlusNet a chance first though. But that means them getting there act together and actually turning me on. (and I don't mean sexually  Grin )
Been looking at their VIP package. Problem is can't move my phone yet as in a contract with BT

sbsdegb1,
Just had a look at your account now and can see that the issue with tie-pairs at the exchange which has delayed your issue is being dealt with tomorrow. I'll cast an eye over your account then and let you know if anything changes.

Re: Wish I never decided to move - For newbies be wary

Lets wait and see Adam. Hopefully I might have broadband tomorrow. If not I need to seek an alternative supplier or revert back to my previous supplier as its been 3 weeks since I placed my order and the missus is doing my nut in because she has no internet. 5 -7 days I was told. So as you can see not a happy teddy.
Any timescales for tomorrow ?

Re: Wish I never decided to move - For newbies be wary

Hi again,
No set time scale I'm afraid. Looking at this realistically I'm afraid you would have hit this problem with any supplier that uses BT wholesale's equipment at your local exchange and these things can take time as new equipment had to be ordered in to remedy the problem. The 5 to 7 days are given as a lead time but unfortunately some orders are affected by problems and can take a little longer. I'm going to add a free month to your account by way of thanking you for your patience.
I'm sorry we couldn't kick things into play any sooner but lets see what happens tomorrow.
Adam.

Thanks Adam. I am sure my last provider used BT wholesale to provide my ADSL service. I may be mistaken but I don't think they had their own kit in the exchange.

Re: Wish I never decided to move - For newbies be wary

The saga continues... How nieve of me to think that this would all turn out rosy today. I waited an extra week from my go live date and lo and behold problems at the exchange and BT will give them an update on Friday 10th. It was going to be the 20th but they managed to persuade BT to do it this Friday.
So for some apparent reason BT can't put broadband on the line that already had broadband on before they tried to put on Plus Nets. To top that my router is indicating DSL on the line so I would have thought that would indicate Broadband is active somewhere. What a total f**k up.
Now looking at Virgin. My house has fibre and twisted copper so can have cable broadband. Only problem is I will have to move my phone too as Virgins broadband costs more if you don't take their phone. But seeing as BT don't seem to know what they are doing might as well take my phone away from them too.

Re: Wish I never decided to move - For newbies be wary

sbsdegb1,
We understand your frustrations here and we're sorry to see that this is still a problem.
The cause of this problem is outside of our direct control but we do not find what has happened to day acceptable. I have escalated this with our suppliers and will keep pushing back to get this reviewed even sooner than the 10th.
The essence of the problem at the exchange is one of capacity, we find it as I'm sure you do that an order that has been placed cannot be fulfilled immediately. We are taking this very seriously indeed and I'll make sure you are the first to know of any developments.

Re: Wish I never decided to move - For newbies be wary

Thanks Adam.
I can understand if I had never had broadband before but up until 17th August I had broadband supplied from a different supplier. So I find it odd that BT are saying that they don't have the capacity to provide me with broadband. My old supplier also used BT wholesale so there is no LLU involved here either.
As I have said before my Router is showing DSL on the line so from the exchange to my router must be ok..
The date of the 10th was only for an update too not a resolution. So I am not holding out much hope. While your at it ask BT Wholsale if they still think I will get 15MB as estimated. I bet that's not going to happen either.
I have fibre to my house too does that mean I could possible join your fibre testing program or is my exchange not compatible.?

No problem,
I'll continue to push back as hard as I can here.

Unfortunately if an exchange has limited capacity this can disappear almost immediately, broadband as a service is in very high demand indeed at present.
With regards to fibre your exchange isn't getting that until the start of December, if you're interested in being a trialist please visit http://trials.plus.net
