Re: Wrong Traffic Shaping Profile - 22 Hours and No Response From Ticket???

Hey.
I'm getting max 512kbs (well ~50kb/s) down during the line speed period (00-12);  I'm on the apparently discontinued unlimited package.
Router showing to be connected @ 8096/448.
There was a period through the night 25/1 where I was only connected @ ~512/276 which coincided with the announced adjustment to the traffic shaping.
I'm only moaning in here because it's been 22 hours and I haven't had a response. Ridiculous.

Yep the unlimited has been replaced with the premium product which offers better traffic shaping, but if you are on unlimited like you are then you can continue to stay with unlimited,as for the response times im not sure but it does sound like a while to be waiting on an answer, how long did it say to you that you would get a reply?

i suspect this will have lowered your IP Profile to 500, which has nothing to do with traffic shaping.
Do a speedtest at http://speedtester.bt.com and see what your 'configured throughput (IP Profile)' is set to.

Re: Wrong Traffic Shaping Profile - 22 Hours and No Response From Ticket???

Hi Barry
Results
Download speedachieved during the test was - 426 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-500 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8096 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 500 Kbps
Surely I'm throttled pre midnight anyway so... relevance?
@Steve - time stated was 17 hours and change.

Re: Wrong Traffic Shaping Profile - 22 Hours and No Response From Ticket???

The IP Profile is a BT mechanism that is universally loathed by all users of BT resold infrastructure Smiley
It will limit your throughput 24/7 until it increases.
It can take up to 5 days for BT to 'recognise' that the sync at 512k was a one-off and reset your profile.  Once it resets, Plusnet then have to mirror that profile which usually happens twice a day.
Unfortunately, there is nothing that Plusnet can do to encourage the BT profile to update faster.  However, it will often update quicker than 5 days, depending on the size of the change.  to be honest, I would expect yours to update within the next 24 hours.
Cheers
B.

Oh that's just bloody marvellous.
Thanks for the info/help guys.
Plusnet? You listening? Your response time sucks bum. Go sit in the corner.

The morale to the story is if you need help and sound advice come to the forums rather than raise a ticket, hope your profile increases soon for you and you can start to see decent speeds again Smiley

Ta.
Can't believe I've not heard of this, I was a BT customer since the beginning (of broadband that is, I'm not that old) only switched to Plusnet after moving around a bit (house not isp) in the last couple of years.

It's a 'feature' of the Dynamic Line Management (DLM) used for MaxDSL. Your profile should increase again over the next 3 days.
You can find out more about DLM here.

Re: Wrong Traffic Shaping Profile - 22 Hours and No Response From Ticket???

A feature? Instantaneous speed drop, 5 days to increase.
That said, what I'm really miffed about is the 33 hours it eventually took to get a response to my ticket. Pathetic.

Mand should have said that DLM is a BT Exchange auto feature and nothing to do with PN
