Re: bye bye plus.net

I may be wrong on this but does the lack of FEC errors indicate that it isn't interleaved

Re: bye bye plus.net

@Oldjim, Don't know about the FEC errors bit, but interleaving is off at the moment.
Matt did offer to turn interleaving on but as my connection is also used for gaming I didn't want to chance affecting ping times unless absolutely necessary.

Re: bye bye plus.net

If you maintain your current sync speed you should get back your 1000 IP Profile. There's not a lot of point in trying to sync higher because I don't think you will make the next step and the higher the sync the more likely you will get errors leading to a resync below the threshold for a 1000 IP Profile.

Some lines will operate better with interleaving enabled, mine certainly does and it doesn't affect my pings too significantly either:

Worth switching interleaving on maybe?

Re: bye bye plus.net

@Bob Pullen, as my ping time from Cumbernauld to Birmingham has never been better than 57ms and is often more, maybe interleaving might really upset gaming.

Oh how we laughed!  Grin
I'm lucky to sync at 1216Kbps with a download of 920Kbps tops on a good day, with a fair wind etc etc!

Fair point, it's easily turned off within 24 hours though so thought it was worth the suggestion.

Re: bye bye plus.net

@Bob Pullen, fair play Bob let's give interleaving a go!  Speed dropping even more at the moment, and after all the effort  (Lots of BT Engineers visits, I'm starting an Xmas card list for next year!) it would be a shame to lose the down load speed we achieved, which was 920Kbps (that's right Bud!)  Crazy

Just let us know if it doesn't help and we'll get it removed again for you. I hope it sorts things for you though.

It's been like that since the 2nd from what I can tell. The IP profile on the Wholesale systems has the change to 1000kbps timestamped at 04/02/2010 13:09:19.
Anyway, I've made the change at our end so the two should match now, you might need to reboot though.

Re: bye bye plus.net

Hi DawnRider,
Well the interleaving order has completed although a line check shows it as still off. I've called the helpdesk who have assured me it is on, so I requested that they push an update through so it shows on our side - apparently this should complete within 24 hours.
Is it showing as on or off for you, assuming that your router reports the interleaving status on the line?
