Re: bye bye plus.net

@Chris, that's definately the best result I've had, although drops to about 920Kbps depending on time of day.  But I agree not bad when you consider a long line of 4.6Km from exchange.  Smiley

Re: bye bye plus.net

@DawnRider - you may be 4.6Km distance wise but it was confirmed during the email exchanges regarding your fault that the actual length of the wiring is nearer to 7Km!
Nevertheless, very glad to hear that things are behaving themselves.

Re: bye bye plus.net

@Matt, the 4.6Km was calculated from the 63.5dB Line Attenuation, ca'nt think what site I was on Kitz or something recommended in the forum.  As the exchange is the other side of the A80 and the Broadwood loch 7Kms would not surprise me at all!  Crazy

@Pierre-pierre, tell me about it!
@Matt. This is the page I was talking about:

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php
With 63.5dB it gives 4.6Km .  Crazy

Re: bye bye plus.net

63.5dB is I think the maximum attenuation reported by some routers - it might actually be higher.

Re: bye bye plus.net

@Jelv, could be right!  When all else fails, read the instructions:
Quote - The reason some routers/modems will report 63.5 dB as the maximum attenuation isn't actually a bug.
In fact its from the G.992.1 standard which quotes "The attenuation ranges from 0 to 63.5 dB with 0.5 dB steps."
As such many firmware versions have taken this literally and only go up to 63.5dB when it is possible to have a higher attenuation figure than this. If your router is displaying 63.5dB, then there's a strong chance that your attenuation may in reality be higher. - Unquote.
