@Bob yes it is.
Should I have received this email?
I do receive spam notifications.

I'm looking into it now Strat, I'll let you know once I've done some digging...

Re: good news for those who dont get PN e-mails

Although to be fair if you look at the account page where you can select -
Quote
I would prefer not to receive electronic communications about the special offers, promotions and services available from PlusNet

This is then qualified with -
Quote
Please be aware that these communications may include offers that will lower the cost of your Internet access.

so it was not unreasonable to assume that opted out customers would NOT be interested in marketing offers such as the one being discussed !

Not far off the mark.
Your marketing address (until about two hours ago when you changed it) was set to use the force9.co.uk virtual domain. For reasons I've not been able to determine there were no entries for this address in our mail database. It's a little bizarre because it was certainly showing as active in Manage My Mail and there were working entries for the f9.co.uk and force9.net variants of your address.
I've fixed the database entries so the force9.co.uk addresses should start working again. If you want this switching off then you can do this yourself using Manage My Mail.
Apologies to everybody else for veering slightly off topic! Wink

Thanks Bob. Smiley
The phrase 'let sleeping dogs lie' comes to mind so I won't be changing anything in that area. Smiley

TBH I think most folk would prefer in any offer more generic vouchers,
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

lucerne,
We will feed that back, with different voucher offers being made to different customers it's becoming clear that some people would have preferred a choice here.
However in the case of this offer it's a case of us working with what we already have and operating within our existing means to offer out what resources we already have to reward our customers for referring others.
Adam.

Who is running the coloured crayons dept at the moment? Isn't it only recently that they offered a guarantee of speeds rather than an estimate.

What a brilliant expression - coloured crayons dept. I love it.

Are business referrals included at all in this incentive? If so, to what extent?

Business customers and referrals aren't included in this offer I'm afraid.

Finance Teams have long been 'beancounters', and IT folks live in 'IT Caves' so why not have a fitting description for the little darlings who come up with brilliant ideas in isolation from a) common sense, b) business understanding, and c) sensible peer review.
Its sounds offensive to call them clowns, but I always think of marketing departments as being similar to Tom Hanks in 'Big'.

If they hear that you are saying things like that you might find that special offers like this one start to dry up Wink

Re: good news for those who dont get PN e-mails

Although I did get the e-mail (for Dabs vouchers) and might have made some effort to 'market' Plusnet (*) I am glad I didn't, in this instance.
Can I ask the Marketing people, through whichever staff happen to see this post, to give us a 'level playing field'.
The reason I'm glad I didn't give a boost to PN (and gain some personal benefit) was that right after the end of this promotion, what comes out via the Money Saving Expert website's newsletter, but a deal where a comparison site (I won't bother to promote them - they claim to offer choices but aren't as 'complete' as they could be on any category of service I've looked at among their various web sites) is giving new sign ups FOUR MONTHS free (not THREE as the PN customer promotion was doing).
So, as you might imagine, I'd have had a bad taste in my mouth if I'd promoted this "great deal" from Plusnet and had people come back with a response that there was a better deal available just after they had signed up.  Sorry, PN, it's really not a great way to get new customers if "moving the goal posts" immediately after someone has signed up means they feel they have been conned / cheated.  Angry
Yes, I know that it's a competitive market, and presumably this is to counteract the BT marketing campaign on TV, so using an online 'comparison' site to offer a deal is in PN's interest, but for any existing customers who may have gone out on a limb to persuade people to switch, and then find a BETTER deal comes along in the shadow of the one they've been promoting is extremely poor, ( I cannot think of alternative words that would be acceptable on the forum,) and it must be avoided in future, for everyone's sake, please Plusnet!

(*) I have quite a few "suitably named" domains and get endless requests from yucky comparison sites wanting to provide me with 'articles' in return for sending traffic to their sites, so they can take 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 quid a go in commission
