iPad Mini competition

Not impressed with Plusnet running a competition that is not open to all users!
Nor that the rules are incomplete and don't state all the prerequisites needed to be able to enter.

Re: iPad Mini competition

Is open to all UK residents though (excluding PN staff/family etc.)?

1. The draw is open to UK residents aged 18 or over, other than employees of Plusnet, their families or its agencies. Only one entry per person

The need to have a Facebook account is missing from the rules. I have no need of a Facebook account and given the frequently reported risks associated with such an account have no intention of opening one just to be able to enter a competition.
Could you point me where in the Plusnet Terms and Conditions it says I am required to open a Facebook account to be able to fully participate in all the opportunities offered to Plusnet users?

Re: iPad Mini competition

This competition isn't open to just Plusnet users, therefore the rules for the competition are on the place that the competition is being run (Facebook). I'm really not sure why we'd have rules about entering competitions in the T&Cs at signup, that'd be confusing.

Re: iPad Mini competition

With you all the way on the Facebook, Jelv. Have to use it though as people keep telling me they've put photos on it of events I was at. Bl**dy nuisance.

Oh well, as I've no intention of getting a Twitface account nor anything fruity then that rules me out!  Roll_eyes

Re: iPad Mini competition

This really shouldn't be branded as a Plusnet competition.
Especially when to enter it people have to hand over:
Your basic info
Your email address
Your profile info: birthday, education history, likes and location
To an unknown 3rd party.

Re: iPad Mini competition

That is totally unwarranted.
I have no need of FaceAche and get sick and tired of people on a forum I frequent for one of my hobbies posting links to 'public' galleries of photos where they haven't set the permissions correctly. Instead I keep getting blackmail attempts 'join FaceAche or we won't let you see the pictures'. FaceAche have deliberately made it difficult for the ordinary user to get the permissions right so that pressure is put on non-users to join.
For my ISP to join the conspiracy by making me have to join FaceAche if I want to participate in a competition that is supposed to be open to all users is just a red rag to a bull!

Re: iPad Mini competition

I agree with jelv that it should be clearly stated in the rules that there is the need to sign up for a Facebook account, but I don't agree with his thoughts on the Ts&Cs.
I have so far resisted any suggestion to become a Twit or get a FaceAche or be LinkEd to these insecure faceless databases that want to know all your personal information and don't have the security to match.
I also think it a bit unfair to run a competition in this manner.
