If a customer has phone and bb with you, and wants more usage. would you give them unlimited bb at the price (£18.00 a month) of PN re badged JL unlimited package?
If not what is the procedure to change from PN to JL, i assume no mac is needed?
Regards
Mike

I would change to fibre, but I don't really want to be paying an additional tenner a month for the extra speed that I don't really need at the moment
I just need to find some spare time in the day to ring Customer Options to find out if they can do something for a 10 year loyal customer before I start informing people of my new email address

Can't say I'm surprised this question was ignored. After all there were plenty of staff online today and some were posting to this thread. Then when you asked that all of a sudden it went silent.
So to clarify, could a member of staff post the policy of moving from PlusNet to John Lewis packages and vice versa? (assuming there is one).
I don't expect a response though. I'm almost tempted to raise a ticket to see if that will be ignored too.

Ignored, no. Missed, yes.
To move to JLBB you'd need to contact our customer options team to obtain your MAC and then sign up with JLBB either via the website or calling the sales team.

I didn't think it would be made easy, even though it is the same company.
And I assume contractual commitments and deferred fees would have to be paid, as if you were actually moving elsewhere?
Oh Well

I know when moving customers from Madasafish to PN no MAC was required , and the move was done usually within 24hrs.

I wonder if the internal systems are different then?
I doubt PlusNet would have spent the development costs to produce a brand new system for JL.
So you need a MAC, even though I'd imagine their accounts are managed by Workplace (as the PN accounts are) and the traffic management is just a different profile on the Ellacoyas (or whatever they're called now).
Bit silly isn't it?

It's a bit like how certain Mercedes vans are manufactured by Volkswagen but you cannot buy a Mercedes van from Volkswagen.

Quote from: walker23 Although the JL product is a 'rebadged' Plusnet service (in that it is actually provided by Plusnet) it is not sold (to the user) by Plusnet
Am sure they just answer the phone with welcome to JL instead of PN

But you are getting it direct from PN, as sales, customer service, tech support etc , is from the same people in the same building. The only real difference i can see is the name and packages.

I wonder if that is the case?
JLB seem to be saying as little as PlusNet I notice. This is from their 'about us' page:
Quote Expect more from John Lewis Broadband
John Lewis Broadband provides Broadband and Phone services.
As part of the John Lewis Partnership, we believe that everything we do should be straightforward, great value and come with a reassuring extra level of service.
Find out more about the John Lewis Partnership.
Hardly says that much does it? I think a member of their (or PN's) marketing team spent 10 minutes on that before knocking off to the pub.
It's all a bit like Fight Club to me .. "The first rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club"

You're almost certainly right but JL would surely have some kind of agreement giving them exclusive rights to this specifically badged retail product and the 'purchase' can only take place through the JL website. (That's not to say that Plusnet couldn't offer something to 'match' the product in specific circumstances - though it probably wouldn't be an exact match.)

Quote from: Alex Yes, I suppose it is possible if JL have their own staff, internal systems, etc. and just using PlusNet bandwidth.
I wonder if that is the case?
I doubt that very much. I would think a number of PN staff are assigned to deal with JL sale calls, etc..
For example the relevant service status updates on JL are an exact copy of the ones on PN.
For some reason home phone is not listed on the JL service status.?

Yes me too, noticed that the John Lewis Broadband site resolves to an IP in a range owned by PlusNet.
