It would be nice if PN and other providers valued gaming by showing us they care. Otherwise for all we know there fix to the whole problem is to turn down or tweak down our connections to the point using just a small % will result in latency problems. Just to fix the peak time over load.
If they offered a discount to people having problems with latency... that would at the least let us know they care. Because atm from experience, its all down hill from here. Maybe they are just waiting for winter to pass? in the hope usage as a hole will go down.
PS. apparently my problem isnt just PN network so yes I do believe my problem is a bit more survivor that the peak time latency you guys are seeing. in fact my point of view on PN's network is shadowed by my local exchange and its "problem(s)".

i,m in the same boat here , have just moved to fibre , hoping for some lag free gaming of an evening ... but to be honest its no better than my adsl connection .. up/down speeds have increased yeh but ping /latency etc is same .Is something being done about it ?
am now wondering if it was a good idea to move to fibre at all ... as currently the only real benifit is the unlimited bit !

I still ask you, I would like a discount until this problem is at least reduced and stops getting worse. Ive never seen it so bad. Yet the test PN have done have not spotted any problems. You only have took at the tbb ping graph Ive posted 10 times to see the problems.

Quote from: Blim It was so nice to upgrade from adsl2+ to FTTC (before unlimited) because my connection could be used and I could still play my games online and maintaining consistently low latency. It has come to my attention that recently at peak times my connection is becoming more unstable at progressively lower speeds. So what would be easy for my connection to handle is slowly becoming a problem. An even simpler way to put it, Im starting to see latency spike under conditions originally would have had no significant impact.
At times I see a speed reductions along with latency spike to prove its not just the server I'm downloading from and this is with the pro addon.
Thats the problem I'm having and this is the reply I get:-
Quote Before we investigate any further we need you to run an updated speed test at the following address - http://speedtest.btwholesale.com so we can see evidence of the poor throughput (please run the test when you are experiencing the issue. The last test you run was showing a throughput of 72mb.
So frustrating. Its like talking to a brick wall or even worse bt scripted support

For our Faults Team to be able to investigate any speed/throughput issues, they require for the BT Speedtester results to be considerably lower than your estimate. We've got all of the information we need with regards to TBB graphs and we'll continue to work to get this issue resolved.
In the meantime, please keep your eye on our Service Status <a href="http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&support_action=messages&ispservice_id=adsldial">here</a>.

This is how it looks when its not playing up for me. You can clearly see things are not right.

We understand this isn't ideal and that your'e not happy, as Chris says we are monitoring the broader situation regarding speed and latency issues at peak times and we're doing everything we can.

Assuming the problem is being fix and not an attempt to hide my problem with download speed, as the bt speedtest only picks up on data volume and not quality. I thank you very much and my sad existence appreciates it.
I do have one question, this might shed some light or I might learn something...
I have done some test lately and have spotted a strange setting configuration of my RWIN in win7.
So Ive always used this site and Ive never seen a "Unscaled RWIN" before or at least before this problem. I know win7 you cant or shouldn't change the RWIN and Ive never tried but this would be a big problem if my RWIN was at 16698 would you agree?
« SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results »
Tested on: 2013.03.19 18:35
IP address: 80.229.x.xxx
Client OS/browser: Windows 7 (Firefox 19.0)
TCP options string: 020405ac0103030201010402
MSS: 1452
MTU: 1492
TCP Window: 66792 (multiple of MSS)
RWIN Scaling: 2 bits (2^2=4)
Unscaled RWIN : 16698
Recommended RWINs: 63888, 127776, 255552, 511104, 1022208
BDP limit (200ms): 2672kbps (334KBytes/s)
BDP limit (500ms): 1069kbps (134KBytes/s)
MTU Discovery: ON
TTL: 111
Timestamps: OFF
SACKs: ON
IP ToS: 00000000 (0)
The only thing relevant Ive managed to dig up is that a local network is over subscribed (exchange) and is forcing low RWIN on clients coursing problems mostly in peak times. This is just something Ive read and court my eye as you could imagine.
