LOL - so when you've updated the pages are you going to give us all a ten day fresh start? (if it makes any difference)

LOL again - so now it's down to user opinion rather than technical fact. Give me strength... Grin

Re: you don't help yourselves plusnet

To my knowledge the recommendation has always been once a day, preferably during the morning. Whether the Plusnet documentation has said that is a totally different matter!

That's not what I'm saying at all. If we can make the steps information clearer on there then surely that's a good thing?

This is the point I'm trying to make - You may well be right jelv, but where did you get this recommendation from?

Making the steps CLEAR is the second task - establishing what the steps ARE is the first and It's not clear from this thread that anyone actually KNOWS what they are.

You're asking me to remember about 5 years back! AFAIK that has always been the recommendation.

Re: you don't help yourselves plusnet

Anotherone,  a very wise PlusNet customer, usually appears on here, giving advice to people regarding speed and connections issues.... his advice is.... "don`t re-boot several times in a short period of time....."...... this makes the BT system report a fault on the line, similar to dry joints/broken wires blowing in the wind....showing as a drop in sync....... so If you are going to "change routers".... do one change then leave it changed for at least an hour, before changing back to the original (if needed).....
On the other hand.... his advice, to try to obtain a better speed is to re-boot during the middle hours of the day, but only do it once per day (.... (the middle hours between 10am and 3 pm) because this is the time when the amount of "radio interference" is probably less, and your line, (acting like a big wire aerial) will be most quiet....  When it starts to get dark, Radio Propagation (the way radio waves travel) changes significantly and could induce more interference on the line, therefore to re-boot then is a bit more risky..... that is to say, it is not necessarily less effective, but could be....

Re: you don't help yourselves plusnet

Although your mileage may vary....
I get a around 5dB noise margin midday, falling to about 4.5dB in the evening, before going back up to 5dB after midnight. Smiley
This is unusual though. Tongue
