Battery Backup ONT and Router

Morning all

I have Plusnet FTTP and rely on WiFi calling as the mobile signal is very weak. In a power cut this means I can’t use my mobile. I have a Plusnet Hub Two. Will this work? It says not, but I thought the Plusnet Hub Two was basically the same as the BT SmartHub2 which is compatible. https://store.ee.co.uk/products/cyberpower-back-up-for-bt-digital-voice-service--openreach-modem---o...

Thanks

David

Re: Battery Backup ONT and Router

@dgp what they seem to be offering is two small UPS units , which provide 12v directly to the ONT and SH2.

The spec says minimum 1hr backup.

You may well be better considering a conventional 240v UPS, for instance looking at the same manufacturer (Cyberpower) , their UT650EIG https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07THLHVHQ?ref=emc_s_m_5_i_atc would probably provide > 90 mins backup for the ONT & Hub2 ( assuming 20w power requirement  which is probably an overestimate ).

Note that most 240v UPS tend to use IEC connections, so allow for an IEC to 4 gang mains adapter.

Re: Battery Backup ONT and Router

I suggest looking at reviews for similar capacity (600 to 800va) units.

I have the BR700. It’s performs well and uses conventional UK sockets. https://www.cyberpower.com/uk/en/product/sku/br700elcd-uk
