Can't set the correct time on my cordless phone...

'Can't set the correct time on my cordless phone' - well I can BUT the phone defaults to an incorrect time...

Sorry if that sounds confusing.

The phone is a BT Premium cordless with TrueCall call blocking.  We've had it for a couple of years and it's been OK.  Recently I noticed that the displayed time was wrong and I re-set it.  Some time later I noticed it was wrong again - so I re-set it again thinking I'd possibly forgotten to press 'save' initially.

I've re-set it a dozen times in the last few days and exactly the same thing happens - after a short while, maybe a few hours when I remember to check it will have gone back  'exactly'  6 hours!!!

As I write this the time is 1:46 - but the phone shows 7:46.

I find this quite intriguing and can't think of a reason why it should happen - the minutes are always correct.  There may well be a good reason but it's certainly beyond me.  I don't use the handsets as a clock so the time is pretty irrelevant but I

suspect all the incoming/outgoing calls will be time stamped incorrectly which could be a pain.

Just had a thought - presumably the time is kept correct within the phone itself?  I'm wondering as I didn't change the Grandstream HT801 I'm using from it's default American setting...

Someone with a similar problem here  was told -

"Time synchronisation comes from the phone service provider as part of the incoming CLI (Calling Line Identifier)"

Who is your VoIP provider ?

.

Fix

If you login to the HT801 GUI , what does it say the time is ?

Anunnaki - Who is your VoIP provider ? - A&A

MisterW - If you login to the HT801 GUI , what does it say the time is ?  I can't see anywhere within the GUI where it says what the actual time is...

The time settings were:-

Time Zone - Using self defined time zone,

and these were  -  MTZ+6MDT+5,M3.2.0,M11.1.0I

I've since changed the Time Zone to GMT (London Great Britain)

Thanks for your inputs.

Did this solve your problem? If so it would help others who come across this issue if you select the 'this fixed my problem' field in the post that gives the solution, that is @MisterW's.

Re: Can't set the correct time on my cordless phone...

Good news - having made the above adjustments my phone's time is now correct!  I presume it was the ...MTZ+6MDT...bit that introduced the 6 hour error.

It seemed to take a while to correct itself.  Now I did read somewhere that could happen as it would correct itself when there was an incoming call (sounds a bit strange) and I was going to call myself from the mobile to check - in the event something else came along and I forgot!.

The fact that the clock was wrong was not that important but of course the list of calls made/received were all incorrectly time stamped.

In the event all is well and I'm suitably grateful to everyone - including  who always appears when I have a problem!
