Re: Connecting router to LG smart TV

Thank you I have been through the settings as you stated, it doesn't ask for my router password though it takes me to a screen that I can either choose auto or manual. I've just ran a test and attached a photo of the message displayed.

If you are connecting using an Ethernet cable then you don't need the password.  That is for wifi.

For DNLA you need a DNLA server to host your music, video and photos.  It's built into my NAS (Network Attached Storage), so I can access them on different devices around the house.

You could always give up and buy a streaming device such as an Amazon Firestick.

DLNA allows you to play content stored on a local media player on the TV, usually over ethernet.

I use it to play stored videos from my PC.

Re: Connecting router to LG smart TV

Many thanks for the information on DNLA.
So I should be able to connect the internet to the TV as I've been trying to.
I must be doing something wrong as I've followed all the information I can find.
How would I find out my IP address with Plusnet please?

Try going to website https://www.whatismyip.com/

There are many websites who perform a similar function.

Re: Connecting router to LG smart TV

This all sounds like a load of hassle when you can currently get an Amazon Firestick for Β£29.99.
