Help with Synology NAS

Hello

This is WAY above my head so apologies in advance if there's anything obvious or glaring I've missed!

We've switched over to Plusnet and have found while our Synology DS920+ NAS can "see" the internet, it's not able to access it. (Among other things, it can't sync to any NTP time servers, access the Package Center, allow remote access, or our Plex server run properly etc)

Having spoken to Synology support, they've suggested since our NAS was working fine with our previous ISP, the problem may lay with our Hub Two settings.

As far as I know I haven't made any changes to any settings like this, but: does the Hub Two have any special requirements like VLAN tagging, or specific DNS settings?

If anyone is able to offer any kind of help that would be much appreciated – thanks in advance.

Re: Help with Synology NAS

Fix

@MontyP from the screenshot it looks like your NAS has the wrong gateway address. Unless you've changed anything on the HUb 2 , its default address is 192.168.1.254 which is what the NAS should be using as the gateway.  At a guess, your NAS has been configured with a static IP to suit the old router. I'd suggest you either set it to obtain an IP address via DHCP so that it obtains the correct gateway or check and change the static IP/gateway to be compatible with the HUb2 address.

Re: Help with Synology NAS

@MontyP  Check your network settings.

Control Panel > Network Interfaces >  Selective active adapter > Edit > IPv4

Following @MisterW' s comment, Gateway & DNS Server should now be 192.168.1.254

THANK YOU SO MUCH @MisterW and @Champnet! Really appreciate it (and how fast you two were too). May the rest of the week be good to you, and the broadband gods look down favourably upon you.

Re: Help with Synology NAS

I'm just surprised that Synology support didn't spot the problem...

Re: Help with Synology NAS

@MontyP  If you’ve set up DDNS you’ll have to change the external IP address to the new one….
