Hub Two open wifi AP

There seems to be a second AP available on my router that I can't disable.

I've got my normal encrypted AP, but I've just noticed an unencrypted AP - W*******G986.

I'm pretty certain it's coming from the Hub Two, because if I change the wifi channel for the main AP, then the second channel also changes.

If I connect to the unencrypted AP, then I can access my router web page and see all the connected devices (exactly the same as from the encrypted AP).

I don't know how long this has been going on, but my router firmware was upgraded on 22nd June 2023 to v0.10.00.04201-PN.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to address this.

Regards,

Simon

Re: Hub Two open wifi AP

Something doesn't smell right there. Do you have any extenders or additional access points on your network?
Happy to advise further if you drop me a private message containing your hub serial number, the Wi-Fi SSIDs you're seeing, and any other info you think is relevant.

Re: Hub Two open wifi AP

Hi Bob,

A bit more digging has revealed that the strange AP is identical to the serial number of the wifi dongle on the inverter of my home battery system.

Quite why that would have been left with a completely open AP is beyond me, so I guess I'm going to be calling the installer/manufacturer on Monday. Seems like a security breach to me.

It looks like I can stop worrying about the Hub Two anyway.

Thanks for your great out-of-hours help.

Regards,

Simon
