I have hub 2 router can I extend the WiFi with a BT smart hub?

I have just got the new hub 2 router. I remember a guide ages ago about using a second router and ethernet cable to extend WiFi, is that called access point?

Any way, I have a spare BT smart hub and was wondering if I could use it to like the paragraph above?..... If so, exactly how?

Thanks 👍

It probably won't work.

I seem to recall the BT smart hub firmware tries to look for a valid broadband connection.  If there is no broadband coming into the DSL grey port, the hub will think there is a fault condition and shut down the wifi and/or reboot the hub periodically until normal broadband is restored.  This was based on my observations of Smart hub 1 (2016 model) several years ago.

Fix

@jamieuk1470

You can do this. I had trouble with early firmware but if you fancy having a go the instructions are here. https://community.plus.net/t5/Everything-else/Configuring-a-BT-SmartHub-6A-as-an-Etherner-Switch-Rou...
From memory you get a constant flashing purple light. Do let us know how you get on as with newer firmware it might work fine.
