Oh, Mr/Mrs 11110_110, you've totally forgotten to explain what is actually wrong with my suggestion [deleted]

One word, Security.
Now...
Can you man-up! and pm me what you said about me, or I'll ask a mod to, either way I would like to know.

No need for a PM 1110_110, I merely expressed my upset at your dismissal of my suggestion (but being so late and with me being tired and stressed I did resort to mild inappropriate language, for which I unreservedly apologise).
No, I'm not going to 'man-up' as you put it as there is no necessity for PMing and I don't have any insecurities about myself, nor do I see any point in taking any argument out of view (or continuing it pointlessly for that matter).
I can understand the potential security risks of DMZ (why on earth didn't you just make that point?) but many people have equipment (an old laptop or RPi for example) which could be set up as a ping responder if my suggestion is viable - I don't know if it would work but if it would then it could provide a means to do something that people want to achieve - I just found your response unnecessarily dismissive without explaining why.

A DMZ was suggested a while back in one of the other 2704n threads. If I stumble across it I'll post a link.

He also appears to have Amnesia as well, as he can't remember what he Edited.

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

Has anyone tried changing the wifi channel on their 2704n?
The interface on mine accepts the change, saves it, remembers it on reboot etc - but the reality is that whatever channel I select, it is actually always transmitting on channel 1
"Auto" also results in channel 1

EDIT - update to this
It would appear that this is only an issue if you change the wireless mode to up to 300Mb/s which probably wouldn't work anyway on this router - setting to 144Mb/s works as expected.

So any update on allowing the 2704N to allow pings? Would be really useful to both customers *and* PN, it helps locates problems.

The last I heard, there was no planned update in the near future. I expect they are waiting for us to find all the bugs in the current firmware and then fix them some time in the next decade Roll_eyes

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

Have just spotted the following which should be of interest
Quote from: Bob
There are isolated instances of the incorrect MTU being set by the TR069 ACS servers when a router is first provisioned. I made an ACS change that should have fixed things following a factory reset/reprovision. I don't know a great deal about the problem but I'm led to believe that it's been addressed in the next revision of the Plusnet 2704n firmware.

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

And what should the correct MTU size be?

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

Part of the trouble seems to be that the 2704N incorrect MTU (1458) is smaller than the standard MTU (1500) a computer will have. Other routers are capable of making things work in that situation, usually by altering the TCP MSS value in outgoing packets.
