MS Word problem

I have a problem with certain files in Word 2007. A running club I belong to has several courses they run on described on the club website. The files are Word files, but which version I don't know. The written description is always to the left of an aerial view of the course. All the other members can download these course descriptions to their pcs and print them off in the correct format. However, when I try to do the same, the words are on both sides of the aerial view (see attached example to see what I mean).

I don't know anyone that can suggest a solution. They probably use a more recent version of Word, but then they are still working so probably use their employer-supplied computers and software. I'm retired and, as you can see, am having to use old software. Is there anyone in the forum who can help, please?

@penneck  Not sure if this will solve the problem,.....  but it looks to me like your "default" margin sizes need to be re set or adjusted.

Open a blank document in your version of Word....  move the left and right borders outwards by 6 letter spaces.

Save the blank document, then open the document you want to view... if it works, then save it again, as "default" sizes.

If not...  at least I tried to help ! !

Thanks @shutter . Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem, but it was worth a try. It did though lead me to Advanced Layout, where I discovered that the "Text Wrapping" was set to "Both Sides". I set that to "Left only", and the words all went to the left of the picture. What I could do with now is to find how to move the picture to the right. I've been able to drag it, but as soon as I release it, it jumps back to where it was. I have been able to move it up and down, but vertically it is where I want it anyway, so that is no use. I have tried adjusting the figures set in Advanced Layout but they dont seem to affect anything (or not that I can see). There is a "Lock" thing but unticking that doesnt seem to have an effect.

Incidentally, while I was editing the description, adding details like road names, I got to about half way down the picture, and the picture started moving down the page, with the top lines of the description now starting to go across the full page through the space where the top of the picture had been before it moved down the page.

Any ideas? Please!

Looks like it's a floating image....

A quick Google for "word text not wrapping around image"  will give many solutions.......

@penneck  Ah well !... as said.. worth a try... and led you on to other settings. Sorry it didn`t work, and sorry I don`t have any other suggestions for Word.

I don`t use "Word"... I use OpenOffice  which is free to download and use...  ( alternative is Libre Office ) .

Before transitioning to Linux Mint....  I used to use MS Publisher 98 for all my documents.. unfortunately they won`t convert to Open Office, so I have to use VirtualBox and Windows 7 if I want to edit them..  I can then save them as .RTF and then can open them with Open Office in Linux.

Formatting may change when converting from Word to another format, so you may need to experiment  to find the best alternative format.

Perhaps working/saving as  PDF may solve the problem for distribution on email or via a website link.

Just an afterthought... when you put the text on the page, can you fix it in a "frame"... so that it does not over-run outside the frame.. and likewise with the pic/map...  Another idea, maybe to put the text on one page, and the map as a full page additional page. ( be easier to read the map ! )

Couple of thought's
Have you tried viewing in landscape, setting in word.
Have you a Google account, might be worth trying Google docs
