The point that I am trying to make is that the TPM requirement was by far the greatest block on upgrading old PCs from earlier versions of Windows to Windows 11. This has given some the idea that this will be a general risk with future OS upgrades.
I can’t imagine that any modern PC running WIN 11 will be incapable of being upgraded to WIN 12

@Baldrick1 said "I can’t imagine that any modern PC running WIN 11 will be incapable of being upgraded to WIN 12".
You're probably correct, even if the word "modern" (whatever you think that means 🤣 ) is removed.
I'm running Windows 11 on several PCs of various vintages, all but one on the latest 24H2 version (and that one will be updated this coming week) though only one of them is "modern" enough to install W11 automatically without one or more "cheats".
I expect all of them to be capable of running Windows 12, but whether M$ will block all the relatively simple "cheats" to upgrading remains to be seen. I expect "ways will be found" by experts so it will be pointless to make it too difficult for those who are prepared to do so at their own risk.

Maybe the use of the word modern is inappropriate. Forgetting your ‘cheats’, needed to upgrade old hardware, the point I am trying to make to @plusmouse is that if they were to go out today and buy a new Win 11 PC, it is unlikely that it would not be upgradeable to Win 12.
I seem to remember that in the past there were cases of people owning a relatively new Win 10 PC that had no inbuilt TPM, with the inevitable complaints when Win 11 was released.

@Baldrick1 & @HPsauce -Thanks both for debating this TPM thing and what @Baldrick1 said here:
"the point I am trying to make to @plusmouse is that if they were to go out today and buy a new Win 11 PC, it is unlikely that it would not be upgradeable to Win 12".
In bold reads well and I`m hopeful that when I walk into a Curry`s or alternative store, I will have some spec info on this written down to be sure I`m buying a Home laptop that will indeed future proof more Windows upgrades/updates without being left asking for assistance on here! I`d like to think I could click on an MS link saying "Upgrade to Windows 12 now" because they recognize the laptop I`m using is sufficiently capable of handling such a download. Unlike the one I`m using today. Condolences to all who will find themselves in the same situation and just don`t have the means to upgrade other than paying £`s for a machine that does.

@plusmouse Sadly I don't think anyone is going to give you any guarantees of Windows 12 upgrade compatibility.
I also note that @Baldrick1 said earlier "I am not aware of any other such hardware/firmware motherboard features that have been introduced in recent years that would prevent an upgrade to a next generation operating system as in this case." There was an upgrade to the Intel processor instruction set years ago that went largely unnoticed and in fact the very latest (24H2) update to Windows 11 does now require and use it. This is IIRC only likely to affect people who choose to run on older processors and I think the latest W11 installer does a specific check on this and it can't be bypassed or "cheated".
To be specific it's the PopCnt instruction which is part of the SSE4.2 instruction set. Most processors since about 2008 (Intel) and IIRC 2011 (AMD) will have that.

If you are happy with your existing PC then my advice is to sit on your wallet until at least the summer. If Windows 12 is due for release at about the same time as Windows 10 support ends I would by then expect the system requirements for Windows 12 to be released and for ‘Win 12 ready’ computers being advertised.

Thanks again for your input everyone. I will take some time to research what`s on the market until a few months before October and by that time, I should know what`s what in terms of moving forward in the knowledge that I won`t buy anything that will end up lacking storage for ongoing updates/upgrades from MS.
I had a quick look on eBay earlier and randomly picked a Laptop that was advertised under Windows 11 for sale while scrolling down the page. I have saved the page from MS which gives the specs required to run Windows 11 to compare with but I still get very confused with the generations and GHz, SoC and all the jargon but it gives me a guide, at least.
Here is that said Laptop on eBay
FUJITSU A357 15.6" WIDESCREEN INTEL i5 8GB RAM 120GB SSD WINDOWS 11 LAPTOP 05 | eBay
For information purposes only, if I saw this machine in July for example and bought it, from your perspective, would I be buying something that`s `OK` but not quite going to manage Windows 12 properly, for example? I`m not sure what the i5 means? The 8GB is random access memory. So Windows 11 only requires 4GB to run. I`m on a learning curve to be sure I buy something within budget and won`t be a dinosaur too quickly. I appreciate though what @HPsauce said about not being able to give guarantees on anything.

I`ve saved this page: Laptops | Latest Laptop Deals - Laptops Direct
Looking at the laptops on that site, all within the £500 limit I set with the slider, they seem good options on specs and price, so I`ll do more research before deciding.
I bought my current ADVENT Roma 2001 Laptop from Curry`s around 12 years ago! It was my first laptop ever and it`s been a brilliant friend for the £299 delivered price I paid for it refurbished! I was buying blind going from a desktop PC to a laptop and just saw it online and clicked BUY! Not sure that`s wise these days with what`s going on with all the Windows stuff and being more aware of future changes too. I`ve been able to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 in that time, but alas, Microsoft in their wisdom are drawing a line on older machines. 😞
