Re: Plusnet Hub One

What is a hub one?
Its probably better to go for a separate modem & router.
If Plusnet mess up the firmware on the modem or router, its cheaper to replace just one affected item.

Re: Plusnet Hub One

BTO stop supply of the modem in January next year so the separate device option goes away (unless you buy a modem from eBay).

Re: Plusnet Hub One

that might be true if the current modem /router product was able to do the job in the near future as changes happen to the broadband network, the combined units require only 1 power outlet combined units are cheaper than separate units, most things have to undergo QA before leaving the factory so premature failure shouldn't be a major concern /

Re: Plusnet Hub One

If you ask for:-
Full facilities on your modem (G.INP etc)
Decent full-featured Gigabit router
Good Wireless
Fairly cheap.
You won't find one. Cheesy

Re: Plusnet Hub One

I thought it would be nice to see a picture or some specs.
The first page just has a link that shows how to plug it into a telephone socket.

Re: Plusnet Hub One

it rather depends on your definition of fairly cheap, for me I regard tech that's under a hundred quid but does what I need it to and foresee it doing in the future as fairly cheap, others regard it as being a much lower figure and have different stances /
the hub one fills some of those categories not that I would personally wish to have one at this current time

Re: Plusnet Hub One

Just received the old router this morning ready for my service to go live on Thursday and just now received a text message from Plusnet saying "Good news!. We're sending you our new Hub One router, which does everything the one you ordered did but more and comes at no extra cost. For more information please see the ticket update here"
but when i view the ticket there is no update since i placed the order on the 12th, and i thought this wasn't being made available to us existing customers yet?

Re: Plusnet Hub One

Customers who have appointments booked from today onwards will be getting a Hub One.
These will still be engineer installs rather then self installs.
After the 3rd of November I will have a limited presence here as I have moved to a new role

Re: Plusnet Hub One

Ok thanks for the clarification, bit odd that the old router still got sent out as you only sent that out yesterday.

@nightstalk3r
You'll get a returns bag with the new router so you can send the old one back.

what will the engineers be doing in the premises?
i assume simply plugging in the router? seems a waste of his/her time to just do that.
