Re: Radio connection problems

@DaveSquibb

My thinking NOW is with the 95i being released last year and the last update for UNDOK was on 12 Dec 2023 the 95i is not yet supported.

EDIT: maybe make a comment on the UNDOK app via Google Play requesting an update.

The Roberts app is awful.

I appreciate that the widely held view of the official Robert's app "TuneIn" is that it's awful,

but I can't see anywhere whether or not you have managed to get "TuneIn" to communicate with the 95i via WiFi ?.

@outcast

Looking at google play I see the 95i has a dedicated app

For clarity I was referring to

Re: Radio connection problems

@Dan_the_Van  yeah I know you were,  I was going through the poor review comments on the Robert's website.

I was just trying to establish whether the 95i has ever worked for @DaveSquibb  with the official app, let alone a third party alternative.

Re: Radio connection problems

Just another random thought,  @DaveSquibb  have you ever setup broadband router TCP/UDP port forwarding to the 93i ? - which might inadvertently be redirecting UNDOC discovery traffic away from seeing other Robert's devices on your network ?

Re: Radio connection problems

@outcast @Dan_the_Van  The 95i will communicate with the Roberts App. It can't seem to read folders on a memory stick though, just gives a long list of individual tracks. I

No Port forwarding has been set up.

Re: Radio connection problems

Fix

@DaveSquibb

I noticed various online comments suggesting that the OKTIV app (updated 25-Oct-2024), is much improved over the UNDOC app (updated 12-Dec-2023) - both written by Frontier Smart Technologies

OKTIV is a big improvement on the older Undok app we’ve previously seen with Ruark, Revo and Pure Internet radios; it’s easier to navigate and more consistent, and it’s snappier when switching between modes or sources or stepping back from your selected internet radio station to check out others in a list of search results.

However, it’s still slower than the native Amazon or Spotify apps when browsing through your library, new music or playlists, sometimes taking thirty seconds or more to populate a list with album names and artwork. The features for discovering new music also aren’t quite as good as in the native apps, where you get a more visual approach.

All the same, OKTIV feels like a step forward in making internet radios as easy and welcoming to use as the best multi-room streaming systems.

It appears that the Roberts 93i, is built using the Frontier modules/chipset. and explains why it can be controlled by Frontier OKTIV or UNDOC apps.

Then I found this -

There are clues that the chip in the 95i may not be Frontier Silicon based but rather something from a company called Linkplay who are responsible for the software in in a number of streaming products and others that are made & marketed by themselves as "WiiM"

Therefore, if true, then your 95i is unlikely to work with any apps from Frontier.

I did search for apps from "WiiM" and found this - WiiM Home

I can't see that it would do any harm to try it ?

It might also be worth seeing whether OKTIV is any better (than UNDOC) with your 93i  ?

Re: Radio connection problems

@outcast Interesting!

I installed Oktiv, this doesn't find either radio.

I installed WiiM and it found the 95i straight away, (not the 93i) which ties in with your research.

However it also displays the MP3 tracks on the memory stick in on long random list exactly the same as the Roberts App.

Maybe I have to accept that I need UNDOK for the 93i and WiiM (or Roberts App) for the 95i and try and find out why the file format displays differently on the two apps. UNDOK lets me select a Band, Then an Album, then an individual track,

much easier than scrolling a list of hundreds of individual song titles. Anyway, unless anyone has any suggestions I guess this in not a subject for a Plusnet forum. I'm still waiting for a response from UNDOK who are looking into it.

Thanks also to @Townman @Dan_the_Van  @MisterW @Mr_Paul

Re: Radio connection problems

@DaveSquibb

Not sure if it helps but with with windows explorer you can add missing columns,

Screenshot 2025-02-06 194820.jpg

I added, Title, Album and # (track number)

Maybe there is an option for this in the app.
