Hi. Once lede is flashed to the router, how do you use the USB drive as networked storage?

A warning to those planning to install/upgrade OpenWRT today: today's build does not contain kmod-ath package, so there's no wifi on the router once installed. The package disappeared from the repo as well.

On a good side: I came up with this LED config and I suggest you try it too:
In LuCi, go to System - LED configuration
Add a new section or edit the default one called "internet"
From the first dropdown, choose "bthomehubv5a:green:power"
Trigger: "netdev"
Device: "pppoe-wan"
Out of three checkboxes below, only leave the first one ticked.
Save&apply, and after a restart, once router's internet connection is established, the colour strip in the front will change colour from poisonous blue to lively turquoise. Much nicer colour IMO.

Hey guys,

I wonder if someone can help me. I followed the instructions and got the the sysupgrade command which I executed and it ran to completion. Then I powered it off and back on again and it seems to be stuck in a loop. Here's the serial output I'm getting.

Is it possible to fix this? I downloaded the latest release from here

Did you use the new TFTP LEDE install image?

The old OpenWRT 'openwrt-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-install-uImage-initramfs' install image won't work with LEDE since post r2363 - 30 November 2016 releases.

If you did use the OpenWRT install image, then check out two PDF instructions in these two threads:

ie. restore BT firmware and start all over again, or try the 'migrate' script and then rerun sysupgrade.

Thanks. I managed to install 17.01 using 

tftpboot 0x81000000 lede-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-installimage.bin; bootm 0x81000000

prepare then installed 

lede-17.01.0-r3205-59508e3-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-ubifs-sysupgrade.bin

However, I pressed the "Restart" button at the top and it seems to have gone into the kernel panic mode again. Then when I cancel it says VR9# instead of the homehub5#

I'm going to try and flash it again. I tried the "lede-17.01.0-r3205-59508e3-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin" but it didn't like it. Complained about something I can't quite remember.

Further to my last message. I think I've messed up my device trying to restore then re-install.

I can get as far as tftpboot but just after the console screen where it prompts to specify a command i.e. prepare, restore etc, I see the error below

You have to restore BT firmware and start all over again, to be able to use the 'prepare' script again.

When I was in a similar situation to yours, and with no backup, I managed to re-vive the device by flashing it with an older OpenWRT build (non-lede) - after which I could use the "migrate" command of a new script.
Your logs are different though, they suggest you might have wrecked your NAND storage and that's why no script succeeds in writing to it.
Do you live in Glasgow by any chance?

Somehow, God knows how, I managed to get the darn thing to fully run a sysupgrade and managed to get into luci only to see that there's no wifi interface under network

What older version of OpenWRT did you install? Perhaps I could try that method.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Did you originally use the OpenWRT procedure making use of the  'openwrt-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-install-uImage-initramfs' install image to mistakenly install LEDE 17.01.0 from stock BT firmware?

Then you immediately used the LEDE installation image and tried to execute the 'prepare' script without restoring stock BT firmware as this would be one reason why the wifi is not working.

Alternatively, to convert from OpenWRT partition layout to LEDE/OEM partition layout, you can use the 'migrate' script.  You cannot use the 'prepare' script.  This may fix the missing wifi problem if the original OpenWRT partitions are still intact.  You will need to run sysupgrade again to install 17.01.0.

If you made a full nand backup of the stock BT firmware, I suggest you start all over again.  Refer to the 'LEDE for HH5a' PDF guide.  Or this thread may be helpful to resturn to stock BT firmware:

I would recommend reverting to stock BT and then restarting from there. There is a NAND backup on this forum to help you incase you dont have your own backed up. Alternatively, I can post a copy of mine to help you.

Wi-Fi interface being down is quite common, you can see my own post about this same thing at the top of this page
So congratulations, you revived the box, take your UART stuff away, don't do anything over UART any more and have a good night sleep tommorow, go download a nightly build of LEDE and sysupgrade to it over the one you got just now. This will, among other things, reinstall packages relating to ath10k firmware.
And make sure you setup your internet connection and get it to work before you do the sysupgrade. This is because nightly builds do not contain LuCi and you'll need to be online to download and install it. So set up your internet, and once it works, backup /etc/config/network file before you do the sysupgrade.

 hello all. I'm now back to Lede with luci. I'm running version "LEDE Reboot 17.01.0 r3205-59508e3 / LuCI lede-17.01 branch (git-17.051.53299-a100738)". Is this the one with the wifi issue?

To get the router to access the internet, I've set its LAN subnet to 192.168.10.0/24 and set the WAN port to eth1 and set it as a DHCP client. The ideas is to access the router itself via the LAN switch (eth0) and give it access to the Internet via the WAN port. I added a new interface called "WAN_Port" and set it to use eth1. I realised that it was using eth1 in the WAN port by checking the kernel log. I also put it in the same zone as LAN for the firewall. However, for some reason it won't get an IP address. I can see log entries:
