USB wiring ???

I have a "mini-mouse" which has a very thin lead to the USB plug... it has started to disintegrate in a couple of places..but is still working..

I have som unused USB cables... and wondered if I could cut the mini wiring off, and replace it by soldering on to it with the "standard" size USB cable.

Is there a "standard" colour code for the wiring throughout the USB connection world..... like we have the three different wires for mains plugs Brown BLue and green and yellow caterpillar... which connects everything safely  ( yeah I know there`s also a two colour version. but again.. it is  "standard" so not a problem ) .

As ever, Mr Google is your friend, e.g.  https://www.google.com/search?q=USB+wiring&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

And then there's the trusty old multimeter.

@shutter

There should be only four wires to worry about

In the past I would get my Avo 8 multimetre out, but sadly I do not have one anymore, but my current metre has a bleep to check wires, so why not check the pinouts that way?

As they say GIYF

@shutter

I would suggest the replacement cable is flexible and not to thick as it might become difficult to move the mouse around

Re: USB wiring ???

Yeah.. I have quite a selection of cables,... various thickness, and various lengths..

Being a MINI sized mouse I will have to use a fairly thin one.. poss 2m  or 3 mm but flexi rubberised outer, so that it moves easily on the mouse pad.

Cheers
