Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

I’m getting the .......Sorry! You're not allowed to access this content message when trying to access http://192.168.1.254/dumpcfgdynamic.cmd even after being logged in fine via http://192.168.1.1/expert_user.html . I will let me into http://192.168.1.1/updatesettings.html and http://192.168.1.1/backupsettings.html though.
I got this router in January as a new Plusnet customer – I have a spare cable gigabit router which I’d like to use with the plusnet acting as a router. This is the detail on the router:

Firmware version: 7.275.2_F2704N_Plusnet
Board ID: F@ST2704N
HardWare Version: F@ST2704N V1.0
Software variant Version 1.0

Is it possible to sort this?

thanks

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

Hello, the dumpconfig does not work on the newer firmware (7.275).  This has been mentioned a few times before, but for some reason I can not find it anymore?

To use your other router...  The quickest option is to disable the DHCP on your gigabit router.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

There are programs (mentioned earlier in this thread) which can decrypt the config saved the usual way, I'm not sure if they can encrypt it again, if you need to do that before uploading the config, but it ought to be possible to extend the programs to do that if needed. If you can decrypt and re-encrypt the config, the ability to access dumpcfgdynamic.cmd is no longer needed.

If the router accepted the output from dumpcfgdynamic.cmd, then I suppose you don't need to encrypt it before uploading it, unless the new firmware also changed that. So the decryption program should be sufficient.

You should not need to encrypt it again...   But if you do, just expand the window a little bit wider for the hidden button.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

Hi guys!

I read most of the posts before but i'm not sure i found my answer...

I joined plusnet like a month ago, so I guess I have the latest firmware, and I recently bought an Asus RT-AC68U.

Now, I would like to put the plusnet router into bridge mode so my new Asus would do the job (and so I can also use its AiCloud feature to access my hard drive anywhere else!)

Is there an easy way for a big newbie in router/firmwares to do that ?

Thank you very much!

Bridge Mode:

Try the link in this one:              Message 8 of 215

Or the attachment in this one:   Message 78 of 215

Looking in the manual for the Asus RT-AC68U. (4.3.1 WAN, page 64).  It might work from there?

But if it dont work, you might have to turn off the DHCP instead.  And dont run it in bridge mode.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

That's my set-up the 2704n in Bridge mode + the Asus RT-AC68U. Setting the Asus router to PPPoE seems to work fine.

I have been having intermittent problems where my connection slows down to a crawl every so often. I've had to get customer services to kick start my line to fix it but so far it seems like an intermittent issue. Any ideas on this?

I'm having the same trouble but I don't have a repeater or bridge in place.  Seems to be a plus-net issue.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

It's pretty frustrating - whenever I mention about my router being in bridge mode they tell me that I need to set everything back to normal and just use their router to continue. It just seems off as a couple of times now, when I haven't mentioned this, the problem gets fixed when they reset my line.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

How did you manage to setup the router in bridge mode?

I couldn't get it to work yet...

I was about to test with DHCP OFF but its quite hard to work on my router as my roommates always complains when I turn internet off for more than 10 min xD

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

I used Matty's XML - uploaded it to the config area: see Message 78 of 215 for the code . Worth reading the first 5 pages of this thread.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

Ohh geez! I read the whole thread and tried several options but I didn't get that the ".xml" was turned into a ".pdf" ...

Going there http://192.168.1.254/dumpcfgdynamic.cmd didn't work for me so I though the new firmware removed that possible solution...

Thank you for that!

I will give it a try tonight, and see If I end up having the same issues as you on the line since we'll have the same setup.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

That would be fantastic if you can actually - let me know if I can help at all. It's very useful having found someone with the same hardware

EDIT: To check the connection works on the 2704N in Bridge mode without using another router use this:  http://www.tp-link.us/faq-339.html - handy for problem solving!

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

Hi guys, sounds like you are having a bit of fun here trying to get the 2704n to do better things! To try and keep this thread just related to the 2704n firmware and settings stuff, @Nonplussed if you'd like to start your own thread on the Broadband board about your connection problems and post the xDSL stats, (the Helpdesk page if you have it in Bridge mode) certainly all the Uptimes etc, and a bit of detail about your slowdowns, when etc. Support are a bit useless when it comes to non-standard setups, and they should not be asking you to "set it back to normal" as that won't make the slightest difference to your line if that's where the problem is. Drop me a PM when you've done that so I don't miss it, and we'll try to help.

Re: Unlocking the potential of Sagemcom 2704N

I'm now 'Nonplussed' as I was asked to change my username by another Mod as using 'Plusnet' in your username is against the rules.

The only reason I mentioned my connection issues in this thread is because I suspected that the bridge mode was causing the issues, especially as it's not a standard mode of the router that Plusnet openly supports. Therefore I suspected it might well be on topic, and I wondered if other bridge mode users were having the same issue. As an aside I have since proved otherwise and I'm waiting for a response from tech support following an info dump I gave them a few days ago.
