Re: WIFI Boosters do they work?

@dvorak

Don't the satellites connect wirelessly with the router? If so, don't the same arguments apply? I must confess that I've never looked closer than the price tag of these set ups.

Re: WIFI Boosters do they work?

They connect with each other, in a daisy chain effect with a network discrete to the wifi.
I've got some installed for the past week or so and was planning to do a post on them soon Smiley

Re: WIFI Boosters do they work?

I shall await your post with interest. If the separate mesh network is wireless then shouldn't this topic with respect to satellite location be applicablr to that?

Re: WIFI Boosters do they work?

Yes, and there's an app that helps you get the best position for the satellites.
One thing to note is that they don't use the wifi included with the router, you switch that off.
The 'master' device is connected via ethernet to the router and that becomes your wireless network.

Re: WIFI Boosters do they work?

There are few general rules with wifi - sometimes its just a case of trial and error for a particular situation.

Might be worth buying something of Amazon or other web site and returning it for a refund if it doesn't work out.

You would have to pay the return postage costs, though.

@VileReynard

As far as I am aware no-one responding to this topic has a problem needing an extender. As I understand it @Leapy  was simply asking three pages back if they worked.

Re: WIFI Boosters do they work?

It’s never quite that simple. It depends what you buy - something cheap and simple or something with multiple antennas and adaptive technology. Not all products in this category are of the same quality.

I use Devolo 1200+ units and personally not had too much of a problem with them.
