Posted on behalf of "McGurka" (who appears to be a touch on the insane side) A day in the life of PlusNet... It all starts at 10am, trying to find the roll shop and wandering round pretty much *all* (well, a lot) [Ed. 2 roads] of Sheffield to find it.... only to realise it was right next door. Typical.... Next is the trip to the 4th dimension, through time and space with the sliding glass doors, which you need fingerprints to open... those were in short supply yesterday, so many thanks to James and all the others who were on hand to let us roam about. Up to the canteen for a meet and greet with all the customers over a coffee / tea / chocolate or 2, or 3, all in PlusNet Mugs! (we didnt take one, or at least I havent heard about it... although rumour has it there is one hidden in a router box, under a desk...) First on the agenda for the day was a presentation from products director, Neil Armstrong... covering the company history, and the plans for 2008. I cant say much about these, since I've been told its all secretive... but lets just say its about to get a whole lot more features, and better value for money.. for everyone! Except non-plusnet/metronet/force9/free-online/MAAF customers of course... Next up, Lunch. Lovely!  Fish and chips was on the menu, although I opted for an apple, and another cup of coffee.. I hear it is lovely, so kudos to the canteen staff for making a fantastic meal! Luke, one of the managers was nice enough to grace us with a presentation covering how the CSC operates, the managerial flow and their plans for the next year as well as targets. Target levels are steadily increasing with the CSC reacting to the changes in needs.  We all knew that of course Smiley Cue the web and content team (Pete and Jonny), with a demo of how some of the new help assistant and features worked, as well walking us through content design and QA with any material. This was also our chance to air any thoughts or comments we had about the site, and for PlusNet to respond.  Some interesting things were brought up there, eyes peeled! Have you ever toured PlusNet? No? Well, now some (more) of us have! We met almost all the staff from Dev, QA, Sales, Products, Networks, Comms, the CSC of course..., we saw HR and Finance on the upper floor and how can I forget the CEO of Plusnet himself, Neil Laycock, who called us into his office for a chat. He discussed all his thoughts and plans for 2008 with us, and was more than happy to answer any questions with us - you don't get that from just ANY ISP! Round off the day with what? A trip to the pub... why of course, I would love to join you! Everybody who was at the open day, popped across for a quick pint (some had *far* more of course) along with the staff and in true fashion, this is where we actually spoke about the business, and discussed some pretty cool and interesting things. From there, off to Pizza Express for a lovely meal which made a fantastic end to the night. Everybody went their own ways from there, with some off to a PlusNet Leaving Do, a Dev Team party, others were off home, me? Well, I could be found with the remainder of the customers, in a hotel bar at 3 in the morning, now theres dedication! Last night, the possibility of another open day was discussed. James.. you must now start to plan the PlusNet summer BBQ, to be held in your garden, then in the meeting area we were yesterday... or just pass a date and some money to the community, I'm sure we would be *more* than happy to plan this out for you Smiley We never did manage the get a mug, not between the lot of us... which just means we will have to try harder at the next! I'd like to say thank you on behalf of myself, and all of the customers who attended yesterday, to all the employees of PlusNet who put up with a bunch of people asking questions, all day. You guys made it an awesome day, I'm sorry to be going home!! [Ed.
