End of Day: 23rd May

End of Day: 23rd May

End of Day: 23rd May

It's Friday it's 5 to 5 (well OK it's 5:45pm as I'm writing this but be that as it may) that means it's Crackerjack! They really should bring that back. Stu Francis could crush a grape all over again... Well enough of living in the 80s let's get on to 2008, at least for a little while then I can go back to listening to ...And Justice for All. First up today is Ryszard from the Development Team: I was supposed to do the Dev EOD yesterday, but I was so busy I forgot. That sums up what it's like in the department recently. If you read the community site you know what we're working on, so I won't talk about what we're doing. Instead.... I'm off to see Indiana Jones tonight I think, although it got a mixed review on our internal forums by a big fan. I love the movies, so hopefully it's not a let down. That plus some Xbox -- I'm back into PGR4 after a spell on GTA4 and CoD4.... seems like game developers nail it 4th time around -- should be a reasonable start to the long weekend. Hope everyone enjoys theirs. Next on the list is Matt from the Comms Team: Today's been a mix, as ever. There have been a few meetings, some problem dealing, a bit of swanning about on the networks floor, a fair amount of forum visitage (and some raised eyebrows on my part... but I won't go into that) and some sitting with the sales team. I'm sure you can guess who took care of what, but there's a twist - Chris has been on Holiday today. Aside from work I've been getting quite excited about mobile broadband, the LAN party and also our VoIP platform. I love technology. Making a welcome return after his trip is Darren from Products: So I'm back from my holiday and have been thrown back into the busy world of the Products team. Today I've been working through some competitor analysis and adhoc requests. Luke's been working through company targets. Rich's been working on our security roadmap. Ian fixed Dave's iPod (Ed: Thanks Ian) and has been working on various projects. Now time to enjoy the long weekend and recover from jet lag. And lastly with an end of week from Barbara from HR: Gemma and Diane have carries out a few more D&G workshops. We are also re-writing the company handbook, and so everyone has been working hard putting this together. We’ve also made a start on reviewing the Ciphr system, ready for an update we are planning; consequently Ciphr spent a day with us last Tuesday, running through changes we are hoping to put into place. Gemma also spent more time on the laborious task of inputting all the new CSC shift patterns into Ciphr, whilst Diane got some recruitment tasks ticked off within the Marketing department and Web Development, as well drafting a new starter process for any contractors or temps. Amongst other things Jen has been organising transport and accommodation for SA visits and our Tower Event; and Directors offsite bookings. Well that's it for another week, shorter week next week with the bank holiday weekend. Not decided yet whether I'll be doing anything or just staying home, but whatever you decide, have fun and we'll be back Tuesday.
