Friday 13th :(

I don't like Friday 13th, although thankfully, it's not been too bad for me today (so far!) but it has been quite a hectic day. First up we have Chris from the Comms Team:
Welcome to my world, yeah, be afraid, be very afraid. Either that or turn away now. Your choice, I don't mind. Today we've been partaking in some spotification and creating the ultimate, uber, collaborative playlist of greatness. Individually we've all being doing varying work, from Bob doing some internal documentation and change controls to Emo James helping out QA with some testing and Mand, Matt and myself in between. Across the team we've gone to some meetings, dealt with project work, peered into some issues and snuck up ninja style on some problems. Speaking of ninjas, erm.. in fact never mind. Following on from the spotify playlist mention here is the one we've been creating, it's pretty easy to see which songs Emo James added. Be warned, some of the songs may contain offensive lyrics, George Formby would be proud. Spotify Playlist (Note: You must have spotify to use this link) Have a great weekend and we'll see you on Monday, apart from Bob, cos he won't be able to see. He's getting his eyes LAZORRRRRREEEDDD. (Not fixed with a rusty spoon, he turned my down on that offer).
Jake from the CSC brings us the Top 5:
Hi, it's been another busy day on the CSC floor, with everyone on calls and tickets. We've currently got a big focus on bringing down the longest wait times, which we're making good progress on. We often see spikes at certain times though, and so it's worth noting you can see how busy we are as regular as every 3 minutes by looking at Link Our top five calls today have been: 1)Faults updates - where customers are out of sync or can't authenticate a call can often be the only way to see how the fault is progressing and so this has been most common call today. 2)Router configurations - customers just needing a hand with the router settings for both newly bought hardware and hardware obtained through ourselves. 3)Fault reporting - faults inevitably can develop and problems do occur, and so there's been a fair few problems where customers have been unable to connect properly, so we've been raising these accordingly. 4)Email setups - it's easy to miss something when setting up email, and as email's generally regarded as the second most important part of broadband after the connection itself, we get quite a lot of email accounts to setup. 5)Provisioning updates - when orders are placed it takes time to place the order or for migrations to complete and so there's usually some calls for updates on order, making sure everythings running through smoothly. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Faults have an update via Adheel
Hey guys here's the end of day from the faults team today. I've just completed my first week on the team after a "migration" from the technical team, and I'm really enjoying it! It's a lot of hard work and fault finding, but there's nothing like getting a issue resolved for a customer and helping them to get back online. Good times! Anyway this is what me and the team have been upto today. Alex and Tom were the early starters on the team this week, and they come in to get a idea of the main area's that need looking at and ensure these are prioritised. For example today No Sync faults needed working more urgently and so they started on these to ensure updates were chased with our suppliers and customers asked to retest their equipment or connection. They also assign roles for the rest of the team as well as ensuring the two guys who are on secondments (Chris and Oliver) have a suitable partner for the shift, learn something new and can ask questions in case they need something clarifying. Myself, Chris and Brad worked on Intermittent faults throughout the day, and these can be the hardest faults to try and fix due to their nature and I'm sure Chris has learnt a lot today! Richard and Keith has been working Home Phone faults which is mainly running line tests and ensuring phone lines are tested with no other equipment connected at the master socket and with a change of handset. If the problem does continue these are raised to BT for further investigation and diagnostic tests. These faults range from no dialling tone or a noisy phone line to calls being disconnected randomly or no ringing tone. Adam (who has been lucky and strolled in after midday all week, alright for some ain't it!) has been working Speed faults and finally Andy has been testing Authentication issues making sure orders have been placed correctly and testing lines from here. That's the lot of us, me and Tom made the Friday fish and chip run today, I almost slipped off the road due to icy parts (in my defence Sheffield is built on hills and where I live has been clear for 2-3 days). In case your lucky and have forgotten today is Friday the 13th, did you know the fear of Friday the 13th is known as paraskavedekatriaphobia? (Neither did I but Wikipedia is a awesome site!) Link I also found out March the 13th also falls on a Friday this year so I'll have to be double careful in 28 days times! Hope everyone has a nice weekend, tomorrow is the most romantic day of the year but I'll spend it watching the red football team in Sheffield try to redeem themselves after last week's antics. <cough>
Gem from HR now:
Good afternoon from the HR team..... I returned from the snow, to the snow which was a pretty sight flying over the peaks last Saturday. Anyway... Were assuming a lot of employees have been updating personal details and started performance reviews based on the number of CIPHR password changes Barbs, Jen and I have had this week. All good stuff. Jens been working on the executive summaries for the employee opinion surveys in preparation for Amanda and I to kick off the departmental meetings over the next few months. I've completed the absence analysis for January 09 which isn't looking too bad. Those flu jabs kicked in maybe? Amanda has started to write the 4th MDLP module, Commercial Awareness and Sales Culture, with Ann Sherlock in preparation for the programme in March. Amanda also attended the quarterly BT HR and Consumer enterprise meeting to discuss the challenges that face HR in the coming year. And finally, Jen and Laura have reviewed processes and policies on Plusnet documentation for the ISO visit at the end of the month. Have a great weekend. Gem
and finally, we have Dave in Products:
Luke today has been sporting a fantastic shirt. He lost a bet over who would win the Everton v Liverpool FA Cup tie. As a Liverpool fan he said that Liverpool would win, as an Everton fan I said that Everton would win. The loser would wear the other team's shirt. As you can see Luke is honouring the bet. In other news we've been doing lots of work on pipe forecasting, supplier relations, random reports, 21CN trial and lots of other stuff.
