Thursday 9th April

Thursday 9th April

It's Thursday, and the day before the long weekend... which incidently, means there'll be no End of Day until Tuesday. Looks like the weather has, as expected, taken a turn for the worse since it's a bank holday! I'm looking forward to both a relaxing and fun weekend, as I think most people are so let's see how we wrap up the week. First, we have Barbs from HR with an update:

In the run up to our Easter break, we’ve been heavily involved in recruitment activity; analysing absence for March;and working on new formats for supplying BT our HR KPI’s for the new financial year. We’ve also been busy updating Ciphr with everyone’s entitlement and brought forward figures for the next twelve months, a bit a laborious task but we’re sure everyone is glad their untaken holidays can be carried forward. Happy Easter, eat eggs and be merry!

Cheers Barbs, next up we have Oliver from the CS team:

This week has flown by with all of us here on the CS floor finally up and running at 100% with everyone meeting or exceeding daily targets. As a team we have all been sharing questions and resolving them which is really good to see as we were only put together a few weeks ago! Billing queries have been the major focus this week with lot's of effort being put into this area. We were bracing ourselves for an influx of calls when price changes for our Home Phone product were issued to customers but to our relief only a few queries have come through via the portal. Highlights, 1)Everyone in team hitting target. 2)Knowledge sharing within the team 3)Chelsea stuffing Liverpool. 4)Having Friday and Monday off for easter! 5)Being offered an Easter Egg as thanks from a customer. (only problem was she lived 200 miles away!) Lowlights, 1)Lengthly billing issues involving hour long phone calls with some customers. 2)Some of the team working all over Easter. Apart from that we would like to wish everyone a happy Easter

Cheers for that... next up with the Web Dev team update is Andy

The team have all been super busy today, but you don't want to hear about that!  Today is Friday, but it's not really because it's thursday. A side-effect of this is that the traditional weekly cake consumption afternoon (known to some as Cake Friday) has been brought forward a day.  Link  Methinks we've gotten a bit carried away. It has to be said the Chocolate mini rolls were lovely... I didn't have a chance with the Rocky Roadsters though! Sad (Ed: But I did... and they were nice)  I suppose I had better get back on topic and tell you what everyone's been up to.  Mark's been working on email updates relating to the up and coming Home Phone product changes. He's denied himself all manner of lovely cakes as part of his personal downsizing project.  Colin's been staring at code all day, trying to fathom out what it does... and attending a meeting on an internal reporting tool. He's also looking forward to a long weekend, and the football on Saturday.  Kelly's been learning how to be a CSC agent.. more on this next week maybe? Smiley The others didn't answer, which is not very polite! I think they're still pigging out on cakey goodness.  I've been working on support page updates for the Home Phone Refresh, listening to angry metal music and wishing there were Liverpool fans sat nearby so i could rib them about last night.  See you Tuesday.. Happy Easter everyone!

A late addition from Catherine in QA:

Mmmm, it's been a tasty day as we've been winding down for Easter. A busy morning, then about half of development descended on local sushi bar Sakushi for some food to help welcome our current visitors from QBurst. We all enjoyed ourselves, and as you can see from this video, we took over half the restaurant - Link Yum! We didn't stop there, though, as everyone seems to have had the idea to get some cakes in (you may remember James comments about Cake Thursday yesterday). This means we had all the cake *in the world* available. Quoth Phil in web dev, who's been sitting right next to it all 'I've eaten so much cake I think I might die'. Marvellous 🙂 Workwise, it's been reasonably calm as we've gone into code freeze so that means no rollouts over the holiday to allow for a stable break. Everyone's been working away on their respective projects and trying to get everything done before the holiday! Here's a seasonal cartoon to take us into the holiday...Link Have a great few days off 🙂

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend, Colin
