Tuesday 14th April
Good afternoon readers, I hope you've all had a good Easter! Today is Monday for many of us, but I've calmed down since last week so don't worry, I won't be breaking into song. I think I'd only just recovered from the Cake Thursday mini binge when Easter Sunday arrived. Despite my age (or because of it? ;)) I received a rather nice Galaxy egg and a bag of Cream Eggs, cheers Mum! Did anyone else get anything? While you're considering whether to admit to being too old to receive Easter eggs, we'll crack on with the EOD. Here's Ben from the CSC...
It's been a relatively quiet day so far in the CSC without the post-bank-holiday rush that we were expecting - I think that it's saved up for Team B to enjoy later today! We've taken over 800 calls as I write this EOD at 4.30pm and here are our top five issues for today: 1: New faults Every new fault report gets lumped in here as there have been no major issues today. Speed or intermittent connection problems have been the main contenders today, with authentication and data transfer issues coming in behind. 2: Fault updates Our faults team have been working hard over the long weekend to ensure that open faults are updated as quickly as possible and they have been contacting customers with updates. It seems that a lot of customers have been away over the weekend and are now returning our calls. 3: Router setups A lot of new customers are transferring to us from other providers and need a helping hand setting up their routers for the first time, or removing old ISP's connection details from their computers. 4: Email Whether it's advanced mailbox setup, spam problems or just a first time email setup, it's not often that email is our of our top five. Customers across the board take advantage of our free email addresses and need help at all stages of setup. 5: Provisioning As with faults, we've worked hard over the weekend to ensure that our provisioning pools are as low as possible, but we often need extra information from a new customer such as a MAC key or a date when a line is due to go active.
Thank you Ben! Next we have Mr Parr from Comms...
Only me, literally. Everyone else has either gone home or not been in today. Bah. So what have we done today? I've been popping in and out of forums, listening to my iPod on shuffle (which does bring up some great song combinations!) and had a brief glimpse into excel again. Bob and Matt have both gone for the day so I can't say what they've been up to. Mand and James are both off. I guess that's it for the day. Here's your comm-ic, have a good evening.
Ta Chris! Last but by no means least, here's Mark with the Web Team shenanigans...
Hello, Mark here from the Web Development Team. Reporting on what we've been doing today, Monday the erm… that's right, we all came in to work today with our Monday socks on, but it's really Tuesday, and the start of another short week. I say short, but here at Plusnet Towers, when a week is shorter we automatically adjust its width to accommodate the same amount of work. What of today's work though? Well for a change I'll report by desk rather than team member - On the Eastern Desk, known in ancient times as 'The Projects team', now referred to as The Socialist Republic of Tea Drinkers: We've been working mostly on project related stuff, new webpage and email templates, code that makes things spin round. Phil has spent the entire day embroiled in a website problem. I say embroiled, because I think it expresses the right degree of pain. Poor Phil! Team leader, Jonny has been looking at how we can improve our internal systems that’ll help us help customers more efficiently. On the Western Desk, our Help and Community element has been mostly working on improving internal tools. Now that sounds like they're working with spanners, though it’s much more about developing the web based management systems. They've also been working on updates to our support pages relating to the Home Phone product changes. Nick's been adding some word sparkle to the Community Support Library too. We'll that's enough for now. Thanks and bye from all corners of the team!
Cheers Mark! That's yer lot for today,I'm off home to watch the Football. Enjoy your evening!
