Wednesday 1st April

Well it's April Fools Day today, just... I know, I'm posting this late, I could say I left work late and wanted to watch the football, which is true I did, but I also nearly forgot the End of Day before the end of the day. Still I have now remembered just in time. The lottery draw is just taking place and I haven't won so I won't be posting "I won the lottery... no EoD today!" But before I begin to ramble on let's get on with the End of Day and kick off with Chris from Biz support:

We have been very busy today not really any time for end of day! 21CN migrations underway, other trials and plenty of mail management tickets are amongst the normal work floating around. All in all really not much time to breathe! I am sure when we don't have quite so much on the plate we would be able to come up with a more creative EOD. Sorry people - Over and out.

Next is Mark from Web Development:

Greetings from the Web Development Team. What have been doing today? Well, mostly trying not to get fooled by the mountain of chicanery and mare's nests that hit the 'Net every April 1st.

Otherwise, what have we been doing boys?

Colin - Mainly problem fixes and 'paperwork', with a little bit of coding in the middle.

Dan - continues to work on some internal tools.

Andy - Project work, and complaining about his mysterious knee injury. (Ed. The injury is a mystery. His knee is a quite well understood).

Nick - "Today has been a fun-fest of Problems, checking and updating Partner and other random content for Andy. Other than that, I've managed not to be conned by a few April Fools and sampled the delights of mid-afternoon cold pizza. mmm"

(Ed. Nick also pointed out that today is Apple Computer's birthday)

Happy birthday Apple!

Phil & James have broken the back of their exciting project. Nasty! We're hoping it makes a speedy recovery.

Sam - Working on visuals for a new project.

Gary - has been creating templates, reviewing some of his colleague’s code and had completed some gamma testing. (Ed. Readers, gamma is the final stage of testing before we put changes onto our live servers - it's not usually radioactive.)

Kelly - Planting a flag in the steaming corpse of the spreadsheet of doom. (Ed. he makes spreadsheets sound interesting...and possibly smelly).

Jonny - Trapped in meetings. Probably meetings about meetings.

Me (Mark) - Editing email templates and starting a new FAQ.

Oh behalf of the team, thanks for reading and bye for now!

Last is Matt from the Comms Team:

Well... Chris and Bob left already. Chris because he's on call and Bob because he tends to arrive at half past seven every morning (or some other such ungodly hour, anyway). Either way Bob has been looking at email (you'd almost think he'd be getting bored of it after all this time!) and Chris has been working on more Customer Satisfaction related things and getting to grips with formulas in Excel. Which don't port across to OpenOffice well at all, it turns out, so that was kind of pointless.

Mand has spent most of today down on the Development floor with the Educator, but she came up clean of bloodstains so it must have been a productive day. As for myself, I've been working on writing and preparing mass emails mostly.

Finally James - he's been at home today awaiting the delivery of 24 shiny inches of computer display, which he seems to be rather happy with. I suspect he's also been about in the forums and working on some other things too, but we have our priorities straight on the Comms team.

Speaking of which, you can find today's commic.

Thanks all, 'night.

And that's all folks, we're over half way through the week now and a quarter of the way through the year. Time for me to go and catch up with tonight's Daily Show, we're expecting a fair bit of catch up TV being streamed tomorrow night as people watched the football and skipped The Apprentice and other shows. Back tomorrow...
