Can I get my profile changed to Fast Path please

I have had a router that's been failing. I thought it was just WiFi that was the issue, but it perhaps has been disconnecting from the internet too and maybe confused 'the system' into thinking I have problems.

I have a new DSL modem/router now and can see I've been set to Interleaved, which I really don't need to be, I hope (haven't had line quality issues for a long time and it took me a long time to get everything on the line and exchange fixed to be good).

So. Please can I be changed back to Fast Path and maybe not have it automatically switching?

I'm quite knowledgeable in the area. If my line has problems I want to know about it, not have my service degraded to work around it.

Thanks

@disposalist The line is testing 80/20 at the moment and I can't see any interleaving on it from our side.

@disposalist  The staff reply confirms you are on an FTTC service. Plusnet are not able to change the line characteristics in any way, it is all controlled by the Openreach automatic dlm system (Dynamic Line Monitoring).

If you are syncing at 80/20 I don't believe your service is degraded.

Re: Can I get my profile changed to Fast Path please

Thanks for the response. Much appreciated.

It's my understanding Fast Path is more about the ping/latency than the speeds and it is latency that most often causes issues when I am gaming online, for example.

So the sync speed isn't really the issue, unless you're saying that because I have a high sync speed I must not have any service degradation?

But that being the case - having a 'good' line - there is no reason I need to be interleaved and not Fast Path, as I believe interleaving only tends to be used when a line exhibits 'issues'.

As for FTTC, it's been FTTC for many years including the years when I used to get the profile changed reasonably often (due to then having regular issues, which I haven't had for many years).

Is this something that Plusnet used to do, but no longer do/can?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the response.

As for the "can't see any interleaving", is this something you can tell, but can't change?

I only say I have interleaving because my new modem/router (an Asus DSL-AX82U) says I have it in the DSL Logs: -

Couldn't see that very clearly (displays here as very dark) but highlighting the graphic (above) made the text very readable.

... does indeed say "Interleaved".

Re: Can I get my profile changed to Fast Path please

Hi disposalist,

I think the ASUS router status is misleading.

It reports that G.INP is active (which is good).
Info on G.INP over at Kitz: https://kitz.co.uk/adsl/retransmission.htm

The original interleaving and G.INP cannot be active at the same time.

I suspect the router is reporting the small amount of INP as interleaving.

Which is a bit misleading.

Regards

Richard

Oo. Thanks for that info and possible answer to my issue! Something else for me to research!

This stuff is so complex!
