Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

@Dan_the_Van It could be overnight maintenance, certainly, but the very low data rate and high SNR point me towards a problem somewhere in the OR infrastructure. I could be wrong, of course.

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

@jab1  Looks like the line is banded to me, which would explain the high snr margin. There are a number of resyncs at 23.830 Mbps then more recently a couple more at a slightly higher speed of 24.968 Mbps so the DLM has changed the cap but there must be some problem with the line. With the banding removed the speed would be a lot higher, possibly as high as 40Mbps

I would have thought Plusnet should have spotted that, but as a fault has already been reported I will leave them to it.

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

@willcutforth have you seen the WAN log in post #8, and the following comments? Despite earlier claims that 'there was nothing wrong', there obviously is something glaringly wrong.

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

In the days of a blue sky and green grass we could expect the results of a GEA test as evidence of the connection status to be posted.

But now it is a barren landscape no such information is provided.

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

Agreed, @Dan_the_Van . We used to get GEA test results AND the RADIUS logs to explain what was happening, but they are almost as rare as hens teeth these days - I wonder why?

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

@jab1 Someone did an SNR reset on the account earlier so just wanted to see how it was playing out. Can get some logs, GEA test if you want?

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

Wasn't aware of that, Will - there is no record in this topic.

A RADIUS log would be interesting, as would the GEA test.

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

Can't see any difference at my end as user.

Download 21.88, upload 7.96

TAP1 suggests line max is 24.17, sure it was ~ 32 at the start of the year, it certainly was back last September.

Re: Cost Up, but Speed Down

@dougjbarnes1 The SNR reset will have achieved nothing, as I suspected. This needs proper Openreach investigation.

EDIT: Can you please post a screenshot of https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL -ensuring your phone number is obscured?
