Electrician cut broadband line

Hello,

I had an electrician working and he cut the broadband line. He reconnected it but broadband is not working anymore. Plusnet are saying an Openreach engineer needs to come out and gave 2 days estimate. We currently have some people over and we all work from home even during weekends.

Is there a way of fixing this asap even if it costs ?

Re: Electrician cut broadband line

Sorry, it's a residential connection and Openreach's SLA is a min 2 day response. If you need better than that then you need a business connection with Enhanced care

Re: Electrician cut broadband line

Hi MisterW, thank you.

Shall I bother with getting someone private to fix it ? Or it has to be openreach engineer ?

Re: Electrician cut broadband line

It depends where the cut is. If it's upstream of the Openreach master socket then only Openreach are allowed to work on it. Anything downstream of the ms i.e in your property , is your responsibility

@MrEkeis

Google for "exBT engineer near me". They might be able to help.

Thank you.

Trying to get someone to come to have a look. The electrician’s boss is saying the provider needs to activate it from their end, there shouldn’t be a visit or a need for an engineer or the delay.

Plusnet insisted that an openreach engineer needs to come out.

Complete rubbish!. If it was working before it was cut, then if its reconnected properly then it will work. It doesnt need re-activating...

Re: Electrician cut broadband line

Hi @MisterW

Thank you for your recent message. You are absolutely right, once the service has been activated it does not need reactivationg nevertheless the fault will need to be rectified before the service resumes.

We will be in contact once we receive further updates, apologies for the ongoing inconvenience.

Thanks

Lee
