@GlitterChick  Thanks for confirming that you are on the 40/10 product. That observed speed figure that I quoted must have been an error, I have heard of incorrect speeds showing sometimes.  I still think your upload speed is low so worth checking with Plusnet.

Unfortunately with the rules that Openreach have if you want to keep the landline phone you can only stay on your existing service, but the copper based phone service will soon be gone, end of next year or maybe a bit later in some cases. Plusnet could discontinue it sooner if they choose to. So some forward planning is needed to sort out a future phone service.

I will drop PN a line to see if the upload speed can be improved on with our current product — thank you for the suggestion. Smiley

 

My parents both have mobile phones and are (slowly) getting used to them. They just like the idea of having a phone that works even in a power cut, without having to keep track of having charged mobiles or a charged battery pack. Not that anyone can remember the last time we had a power cut of more than two hours…
