Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

@Townman

I can confirm I can connect to the service via a web browser and telnet on port 443 (https) using my Vodafone connection,

If I recall correctly you have Zen connection, do you get the same ping and trace router results?

EDIT:

an end point not responding to pings ought not to stop a trace route 'walking' the path

If tracert is using icmp I'm not sure how it will finish walking the path as you put it

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

Hi Dan,

The business premises has a Zen connection**, whilst home remains with Plusnet. were you think of @jab1 who is indeed with Zen?

**Remote prodding of the router does not expose any router functionality to ping from the router, so I cannot test connection from that provider.

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

A restart of a person's home router to get a new IP address and thus re-establish connectivity indicates (to me) a firewall (for some reason) is blocking the end-to-end traffic. A traceroute using TCP packets would be required to get further (IMO).

A refresh of IP Address to a different network range would suggest a routing issue, which firewall are you referring to? can't be the plusnet supplied Hub that is not configurable, for the Hub Two it can either be On / Off / Block all (only allowing inbound port forward traffic.)

It would be interesting to see if trace route to 157.203.6.154 using TCP works, if I have time I might give it a go using my vodafone hotspot and a Mint 21 desktop as Linux traceroute offers TCP and UDP options

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

I also had problems with MYchart log-in and contacted Kings College Hospital London who suggested it was my ISP when I told them it was PN. I dropped Wi-Fi on mobile and went on 4G and was able to log-in with no problem. I then tried my neighbours ISP, not PN, and again able to log-in. Called PN to be told "Factory reset router may help"  Do I really want to factory reset and all that would entail? Stick to 4G in future and forget about even trying to use PC as that has never connected to NHS Mychart.

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

Thanks to everyone who's contributed advice. I've solved my problem by leaving Plusnet (it wasn't the main reason for changing ISP) but I can log in to MyChart with my new provider (Community Fibre).

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

I've just had word that this is now working and mychart.kch.nhs.uk and the other mychart sites should all be working now.

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

Thanks, Dave, for letting us know.

Yes, the MyChart app and access via the web page now both work for me when connecting via WiFi.

Best, Tony

Oh no it isn't!

Hmmm… can't reach this page

mychart.kch.nhs.uk took too long to respond
Try:

Search Bing for mychart kch nhs uk
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics

ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

@pvmb

are you using http or https?

windows test connection on port 80 reveals this

tnc mychart.kch.nhs.uk -Port 80
WARNING: TCP connect to (157.203.6.154 : 80) failed
WARNING: Ping to 157.203.6.154 failed with status: TimedOut

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

Uh, huh!

Using the supplied link - mychart.kch.nhs.uk - picks up the http version by default. Manually editing the link in the browser to https connects perfectly.

Re: Problem connecting to Mychart

@pvmb  KCH works for me with Edge browser on Windows10.  I seem to recall that when it was reported some time ago only one of the mychart site was failing on my connection but only briefly. This doesn't help you much, but Plusnet don't seem to know what has caused the problem either.☹️

https://mychart.kch.nhs.uk

Not sure where this (ideally-automatic forwarding) is assigned but guessing by the NHS isp (?)

Had to move the HappyChild site last year to Mythic Beasts https://www.mythic-beasts.com/ (needed the https addresses for site pages) and discovered that MB not only provide free SSL (via Let's Encrypt) but also allow the account-holder to nominate if or how URLs get forwarded/diverted.

eg whether www is included in the web address or not, and whether it's http or https (so there are four options in all).

So if the mychart addresses aren't forwarding automatically to https, guessing that's something for the NHS isp to resolve (?)
