Re: Speed capped - out of the blue... again!

No problem and sounds good Smiley

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Help it out by doing nothing. It just does not help.

If you want to improve your service, put the effort into finding the source of and eliminate the suspected REIN.

Let’s wait and see what comes next. The DLM does not step in without a good reason. The problem is the reason for intervention is not always easy to discern. Enjoy it; hope it lasts.

Re: Speed capped - out of the blue... again!

Just an FYI (while I'm here crying about my emails elsewhere!)... this is why I intervene and why I do not want DLM to protect me!!

This was taken just before a power cycle on 24 Jan 2025 at 22:16 (all telephones and the new phone extension firmly in place throughout, xmas lights etc) showing a few weeks of the stable connection I can usually enjoy when DLM doesn't interfere! Syncing faster than DLM allowed (albeit somewhat nobbled by SQM limits of around 7.6 Mbs - but no extra lag/bufferbloat) with higher SNR margins.

I'm adding +4.5 dB (ish) to SNR margin and I have had no unexpected disconnects. I've had power cuts and a noisy gateway, but the line holds on for the next timed/controlled reset.

I still get nice bursty spells of errors of 20k+ in a 5 minute interval... but no obvious pattern and it doesn't last long as the errored seconds don't seem to peak in line with the errors (so I guess they all happen in the same second?). And I get the odd spell where the entire period seems to be full of Errored Seconds (even some consecutive/severely errored seconds)... but the connection persists!

I hope this helps demonstrate why solutions that work well generally (ie DLM) will rarely provide the best solution for anyone... and that is why I interfere.

I'll see you next time I get too cocky/complacent with my line or DLM has a brain f@rt and nobbles me prematurely!!

Re: Speed capped - out of the blue... again!

You clearly have a source of REIN. Finding and if possible eliminating it might give you a better experience.
