Seems like ptn-ag03 is causing a few of us problems this evening

Just disconnected and re-connected a couple times but seem to be stuck on ptn-ag03

Can you both remain on that gateway while we look into this. I'll post back shortly when we've done a few things.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I'm afraid I couldn't wait on that gateway, but if it helps, I'm getting the same issues on all gateways I have been on so far this evening - unusable as the speed is not constant it hits peaks and troughs, with the peak being right at the end of the test - there is no steady throughput at all.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Thanks for looking at my ticket...
Are you guys getting anywhere with nailing this problem, or still gathering data?  Honestly now?

I'm not sure what that proves ?

There had been some doubt expressed about whether the increased latency was definitely caused inside PN's network or might be caused partly or in full by congestion in BTW's network (BT Infinity customers are apparently suffering similar issues). Your traceroute seems to clearly show it's not in BTW's backhaul. You can get all the way to the far side of PN's network (ae1.ptw-cr02.plus.net) in a very consistent 32ms, which isn't that much more than your normal ping results from Speedtest (I know, different protocol, different type of router responding, but conclusion still valid, I think).

@ Bright iMac is connected via WiFi until I redo the Cat6 terminations at the patch panel.

Don't worry - purleigh gave me the answer I was looking for!

Re: Peak time latency spikes

There's been something odd going on with my connection today, but after a bit of gateway hopping I'm currently on ptn-ag03.

According to my calculations I should be able to get a faster download, but I'm still waiting for my Plusnet profile to update from last night after my sync rate increase. Sad

Re: Peak time latency spikes

20CN pcl-ag04 - I know that you are aware of problems with it -

BT speedtester and speedtest.net are giving me typically normal results.
I don't normally stream at this time of day, but this is poor BBC1 & BBC2 live, bit rate is constantly up and down, & occasional pixelation but no buffering.
iPlayer Diagnostics attached, one of the worst I've seen

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Now going to attempt going back to XBL, although given the issues I have been having across all gateways this evening (No steady throughout, just high peaks) I suspect it will be a disaster.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

You are currently connected to gateway pcl-ag01.
This is located in City Lifeline House.
Speed starting to drop since 9pm but not as much as normal,
Ping high and ping test normally 27 and grade A but grade B just now
video streaming OK
web pages opening OK
Seems to behaving better tonight but still not what I was getting before the problems started. Problems started soon after I moved to Fibre Unlimited from Fibre Plus
