What happens now? Plusnet say in their FAQ that there possibly isn't any benefit in keeping the Pro add on with the new Unlimited Fibre, but I'm not sure I entirely understand why? All credit to Plusnet for being honest about this and not trying to rake in more money when it isn't necessary, but I'm wary of cancelling the Pro add on until I understand exactly what it means.

No change apart from what it says in the picture.

Quote from: Oldjim You can cancel and reinstate it almost overnight so just try it
I'll do that Oldjim, thanks. I don't use anywhere near 250GB a month at the moment, but Unlimited means it's nice not to have to even think about it when downloading the video boxsets from iTunes and streaming iPlayer and Netflix. Plus more and more of my stuff is now kept in iCloud and streamed down, so I will use more in future.

Pro add-on was NOT a "make everything go faster".
It had two benefits:
With Unlimited none of the traffic queues get slowed down except in times of exceptional high load. The circumstances under which the Pro add-on would be beneficial are about as rare as hens teeth.

Thanks Jelv. So in fact keeping Pro Add-on for Fibre Unlimited wouldn't help for Spotify, Netflix or P2P etc. anyway? These things always confuse me.

Quote from: aeroalfie Thanks Jameseh,
Just to confirm i dont need to change phone line providers (currently BT) to get Plusnet Unlimited £9.99 broadband?
No you don't.
Quote from: AdamGayne I have been a customer for over 18 months now, I would like to switch but I don't like signing up to lengthy contracts for anything where I can help it.
I assume that even as an existing customer, I need to sign up for the contract to get unlimited for £9.99
Yes.
Quote from: AdamGayne Do still have to pay £12.49 for unlimited?
Yes, if you're not wanting to re-contract.
Quote from: dfunked As I've just moved house and chose to absorb the fees rather than paying upfront, would my cancellation charge now be £65 + whatever the new cessation charges of the 12 month contract are? (Not planning on leaving any time soon of course, I'm just a bit curious...)
To be honest, I've a feeling the £65 deferred contract might be written off. I'd have to check though...
Quote from: dfunked I noticed the following closed ticket on my account after ordering the new package this morning. Does this mean I'll have to ask for my upload to be uncapped again next month?...
It's a known problem (ref: 73795). I've just cancelled the modify order so it don't complete (the account change will still happen though).
Quote from: ReedRichards I am wondering about the "We won't be beat(en) on price" promise attached to Plusnet Value broadband. Now Plusnet have brought out a new product, Essentials, that does beat Value on price on Market 2/3 exchanges, doesn't that mean they have to reduce the cost of their Value product to match?
Quote Plusnet's Price Promise
WE WON'T BE BEAT ON PRICE
You won't find a lower price for standalone broadband
If another provider says they can offer you the lowest priced broadband in your area, just give us a call. No matter where you live in the UK, we're happy to hear from you.
Not only will we match any genuine price for standalone broadband*, but we may even be able to beat it. What's more, you might even be able to get both Plusnet broadband and phone together for less!
How our price promise works
Our price promise is on Plusnet Value Broadband versus the lowest cost standalone broadband product available from a competitor. It covers the total cost of broadband (subscription + setup costs) over the competitor contract length, up to 24 months.
What is standalone broadband?
Standalone means the price for 'just broadband' without phone or TV bundled in. You'll still need a landline to get our service, but we'll tell you if yours is compatible with our broadband when we check your number.
Found a cheaper deal?
If you do find a cheaper price for standalone broadband just give us a call on 0800 073 1120 (quote ref: T6A9PB) and we'll match it. You need to be able to show our sales team where you found the cheaper price and it must be available publicly
Not really applicable to an exiting customer. Besides, I was under the impression we'd removed the price promise as part of yesterday morning's roll-out?
Quote from: podman I Currently have the Pro addition on my account and have chosen to go to Unlimited on my next billing date. Will the Pro disappear from my account at the start of my next billing month or do I need to kill the Pro part by raising a ticket
Not sure on this one. I suspect it gets removed. Check here after the account change and remove it if necessary.
Quote from: podman Also is there still an FTTC install reduction for current customers is the £50 a flat fee for everyone how has moved to the new packages. Does the old £25 current customer FTTC install charge still apply to those who have do not move?
FTTC install is free if you take (or already have) our phone service, £25 if you don't and £50 quid if you don't and you're not already a customer.
Quote from: riley When trying to 'upgrade' through the online page it says we have to pay a £25 activation / engineer visit fee. What's with this?
As advised, it's a bug (ref: 73780). You won't be charged for it.
Quote from: Hairy Got to love the "0KB allowance"!!
As Chris says, problem raised for that (ref: 73862). I've suggested changing the '0KB' to '8' or alternatively mimicking what we do with the older iteration of Unlimited that we sold a few years ago (attached).
Edit: That's suppose to be the infinity symbol rather than an '8', doesn't look like the forum wants to render it properly though.

If I've been helpful then please give thanks ⤵

No it wouldn't, in fact I suspect it could be detrimental. If you had one of those running a heavy download and were trying to also do something that should be gold (for example streaming) the download could affect the streaming as they will be on the same priority. Without the add-on the streaming will definitely take priority.

- If you're moving ADSL > ADSL (not upgrading to Fibre) there is no charge. There are still cancellation charges if you cancel your account though.

On value at the moment with a speed quoted of 18.5Mb down ( actually get about 14Mb ). If I upgrade to Unlimited my estimated speed is 7.5Mb down. Why the difference?
