New look community site!

I must say I like it too. Grabs your attention straight away and looks more upbeat and more fashionable than the current one.
Looking forward to see all of the other designs when they get done!

When I saw the post and the picture my first thought was to check the date - no it isn't April 1st - from this you will gather I don't like it.
I hate fancy sites which have white or grey print on a black background.
They are far too difficult to read.

If it's worth a discussion on our internal forums, then it's definitely worth one here!
We don't have any other prototypes just yet though, and this is just alternative design we may be looking at using. The idea is that we will give the customers many different layouts over time so thay can choose which one they prefer.
Time permitting we're kind of hoping for each member of our design team to put together a layout for the site, and any which are submitted by the community that are any good might be considered for use too.

From the point of view of a silver surfer I would say that a dark background is very difficult on the eyes, Jack.

I don't like the colour scheme or the graphics but I really do like the layout. Get rid of the graphics at the top and change the text to black on white and I'd settle for that thanks

A thumbs up from me, I've always preferred dark background with light colours. The layout is not as clean as the current community site, but I don't feel that it is too cluttered.
We all know right now that there is no way everyone is going to agree on the layout or colour schemes, so is there any way to develop a system where the user can pick their own layout scheme - Mambo and Joomla offer this option?

Personally I really like the theme design and colours, but having run a "grey text on black" site for 4 years I'd skip it and find something more "normal", as you quite literally will not hear the last of it.

Too dark and cluttered. Also, not keen on the jumping folk.

A question about the layout: Would the left hand menu be there when in the forums? If so it's going to be as awful as the old portal forums with the pathetically narrow column for display of the posts.
I detest the black background.

I quite like it, I am not too keen on white backgrounds the current site is tricky on my eyes. However it will be difficult to please everyone, good effect I say!
