Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

Still seem ropey for me jelv. Searching for "IWF" returned all sorts of nonsense!

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

found the answer to your IWF search  http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2867_5041.htm

Tried editing this using the edit button, I am on firefox, had to use the Modify bottom at the top

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

See what you mean.
I did find that a search which failed totally and only gave results from yonks back gave me proper results when repeated with a day range.
I must have hit lucky with the search terms I used.

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

Looking more closely, the spurious results that I'm getting seem to contain results from previous searches I've performed - IWF returned results with iPlayer and Postini which were both searches I'd performed earlier. I'm wondering if there are some temporary tables involved which are not being cleared correctly and my first attempts worked because no-one else had been doing searches recently.

I agree. Sometimes, the number of results seemed to relate to a previous search, while the highlighted text seemed to relate to the current search...
And sometimes the number of results seemed to relate to an earlier search...

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

The problem is relating to the DB user that the forums use not having permissions to create temporary tables.
Bug was raised in http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=189110.0 and the fix is fairly simple.  Colin is aware. Smiley

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

Is that information that has only recently gone Colin's way?
Edit: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=887 looks interesting

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

Very nice to see.
However, is the sequence of the results when "Most recent topics first" (my preferred default) is chosen in advanced search, a little different from the expected? Cry

Re: "Forum Search" up the sprout?

Most recent first appears more understandable to me if you also select Show results as messages.
I wish there was a way I could set those as my defaults!
