I did find that a search which failed totally and only gave results from yonks back gave me proper results when repeated with a day range.
I must have hit lucky with the search terms I used.

Quote from: jelv I'm wondering if there are some temporary tables involved which are not being cleared correctly
I agree. Sometimes, the number of results seemed to relate to a previous search, while the highlighted text seemed to relate to the current search...
And sometimes the number of results seemed to relate to an earlier search...

Bug was raised in http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=189110.0 and the fix is fairly simple. Colin is aware.

However, is the sequence of the results when "Most recent topics first" (my preferred default) is chosen in advanced search, a little different from the expected?
