Same  here.

Why isnt there an automatic process?  rather than just waiting until someone reads/responds to this thread?

Re: Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

@floweryfield  They will get to you, but forum support staff are a little stretched at the moment.

@toolateforaname See above. The reason there isn't an automatic process is because of the way the system was originally set up, and I doubt they will be making any changes, as there are strong rumours that the PN brand email service is likely to be discontinued in the nearish future, Note I said 'rumours' - this is only the way it is being seen by those of us with long experience and a 'feeling' for what the future holds.

Re: Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

The problem with an automated restoration is that no one would bother to reduce their file store usage, they’d just restore, carry on for a few weeks until the next “you’ve been warned enough” event.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

A good point, @Townman . Be good if the OP(s) responded though - I quite often feel like I'm talking to myself.

Re: Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

Interesting perception on expectations here …

Users receive a weekly notification that they are using 75% or more of their storage allocation. Having reached 100% or more, they receive at least two further warnings at one week intervals. If the issue has not been sorted after a further 7 days the mail is archived.

When it all then goes pear shaped, a response is expected within an hour? On a community forum where the majority of advice comes from fellow customers.

Staff will pick this up directly, and raise a task to have the mail restored. That might take 2-3 days.

Re: Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

Mine was archived for not being used.
I'm not expectiing a response within an hour.

The point is that this is a regular issue and there is no real way to action it other than posting on this forum.  I dont see that as a great service from plusnet.   obviously just my expectations.

Thanks @willcutforth

P.S. I saw the request "If this post resolved your issue please click the 'This fixed my problem' button".  I may be missing the obvious somehow but ...... what button?

@willcutforth P.P.S. mailbox beginning with j - the notion of multiple mailboxes is something I'm only just coming to understand...

@Townman

>Users receive a weekly notification that they are using 75% or more of their storage allocation.

>If the issue has not been sorted after a further 7 days the mail is archived.

FWIW - the warnings don't go to the mailbox with the problem, in my case it went to a postmaster mailbox that I was barely aware of the existence of, certainly hadn't seen for many years.  So the first I was aware was the point the mail disappeared.  Even then it required some detective work as the 'we've archived your mail' message also didn't go to the mailbox with the problem.  Maybe that's something you could feed back?

>When it all then goes pear shaped, a response is expected within an hour?

Not sure who that was aimed at, but if it was me, my follow up was days later, not hours, and was an enquiry, not a complaint.

>On a community forum where the majority of advice comes from fellow customers.

This particular section of the forum is of course explicitly for communicating with staff to request to have archives restored - as is outlined in the first post.

Re: Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

For clarification, it is not a single mailbox which has an issue, but it us the total utilisation of the file store. A user is obliged to monitor the mail address nominated for service messages. A user can nominate an additional address for such notices in the account settings within the member centre.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

Good morning,

Please could you un-archive my mother's mailbox. I'm sorry this has happened again.

She claims she is deleting mails and trying to keep the size down, but obviously hasn't managed to (she's 89 but quite tech savvy).

Her email address Is

Moderator note: Moved to an area available only to Plusnet staff

Thanks,

Jon
