Archived mailbox? Request for it to be unarchived here!

You may want to check that when your mother deleted emails she also deleted the contents of trash afterwards. Unless set up for automatic deletion they end up in the trash and stay there forever until cleared out manually, or if using a mail client that is set to empty trash on log out.

Indeed.  That makes some sense.  When there's a gig of mail in one box and two fifths of nothing in the 'admin' one though, it would be more helpful to put the messages towards the one that is clearly being used.

Sets up a hole for everyone to fall in doesn't it - set up some admin mailbox when you first join, not terribly clear what it is for, and another 'day to day' one for real mail.  Then forget about it on account of never needing anything from it to use the service, then 5 years later all your mail disappears without warning to the mailbox actually being used for mail.
