Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

Do not use email address - as per the notes use plusnet_account_name or plusnet_account_name+mailbox_name.

If your address is fred@fredsmith.plus.net...

  • If fred@ is the default accress, just use fredsmith
  • If fred@ is a secondary mailbox use fredsmith+fred

Ok, apparently I had to put in A1 before the login

Or as per the notes anything...

  • 01 as suggested
  • A1 as you have used
  • A
  • 1

All of the above will work - it is nothing more than a label.

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

So I got down your list successfully to "expunge" and got this message back:-

NO access denied for EXPUNGE on current mailbox (ACL "e" required)

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

The rights bit that you have in red is not exactly the same.  You have OK [MYRIGHTS "acdilrsw"] ACL.

I have a different thing between the quote marks.  Does that matter?

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

EXCELLENT!!

You have done well - this is what I suspected for the start a permissions error.

Can you please confirm that the permission which you saw at step 03, match those in my script.

@SammyM  & @willcutforth  - I think this needs to go over to the file store support folks - looks like an access (ACL) permissions issue.

Absolutely - can you please post that here for Plusnet support.

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

You want the bit between the quote marks?

What about the number in UIDVALIDITY bit in the line above, which is also different?

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

Just post the whole response for 03 please.

I do not know about the number - I suspect that it is a long integer negative number ... which might reflect permissions settings.

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

From Telnet, as follows:-

A1 select "INBOX.Sent"

* FLAGS ($Forwarded $MDNReceived \Draft \Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Recent)
* OK [PERMANENTFLAGS ($Forwarded $MDNReceived \* \Draft \Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen)] Limited
* 379 EXISTS
* 0 RECENT
* OK [UIDVALIDITY 607446028] Ok
* OK [MYRIGHTS "aiklrstwx"] ACL
A1 OK [READ-WRITE] Ok

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

Is there any way to copy the text from the Command Prompt list or take a print out for the record?

You are most welcome - clicking the like button where things help is always appreciated please.

You have done a fantastic job yourself, not only have you obtained a very precise and unequivocal diagnostic, there are significant differences between our ACL configurations - you will note that I do not "e" in my ACL but I do have "c" & "d" ... which gives rise to some interesting technical questions, which I have just posted elsewhere.

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

@Townman if it helps, I've tried with one of my Plusnet mailboxes and I have the same ACL rights as yours.

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

Fix

@millerv

Good morning - I have had a really helpful response from one of the SU contacts - there is something which you might try to fix this yourself!!

Now that you have gained confidence in using the telnet interface to IMAP, can you try the following please... (I have omitted the responses)

01 login <mailbox name> <password>
02 select "INBOX.Sent"
03 setacl INBOX.Sent <mailbox name> +acdilrsw

03 OK ACLs updated.

Then try to do a delete again (as in the previous post).  If that works, attempt to do a delete via webmail.
