Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

Good Morning

I have just done as instructed.  Changed rights and worked through your instructions to expunge and then there were a whole lot of EXPUNGE lines on Telnet .... and then in Webmail all Sent Folder emails were finally gone!

I then moved an email I had in the INBOX into the Sent Folder to further test this and deleted it with no problems.

An enormous thank you to you (with all the time you have given to this) and to the other superuser for their help.

One final note on this - I don't understand why the Plusnet IM&T team could not have sorted this out given that it was simply a matter of permissions.  I first flagged this problem last July, with numerous phone calls and support questions since then.  They have been in and out of my Webmail account themselves (which I allowed even though I wasn't that happy due to them being able then to see all my personal emails) and they ended up saying that they couldn't do anything about it.  I was also told a couple of times that Plusnet planned to get rid of Webmail/emails at some point, so thought that I was going to have to wait till then for the emails to get deleted.  That is when I joined the Community Forum to see if there were any other ideas.  Thank goodness I found you!  So thank you again, very much.

Re: Cannot delete emails from Webmail Sent Folder

Really delighted that you finally reached a satisfactory outcome.

You too deserve credit for the solution - it took faith and bravery to attempt this diagnostic and repair - many users would have glazed over at the detail, retreated and not have won the prize.  Sometimes it is much easier to see the problem, rather than the solution; without your faith and bravery, WE would not have solved this together.  Proving that the service permissions (ACL) were (for whatever reason) wrong was critical to finding the fix.  The fix itself came for one of Plusnet's best systems people - it is individuals such as they who go above and beyond which does make a massive difference to these forums.  They do lurk in the shadows, for they also have demanding day jobs.

Yes, it did take time and effort, but I did learn something new (old dog new tricks) which I am sure will come in useful again.  Much of the above has been captured in to my stock responses, so you will have been a help to others too.

Hope you'll come back in hope if you have other issues!
